headcanon // the reason omega's fragments crystallize is because that's what it's like inside omega. he is not organic in the sense of flesh and blood; he is crystalline, he is marble, he is stone. his exterior plating is incredibly solid to the touch and if you were to wound him it would be like cracking a geode. his dormant components naturally crystallize because they are wounded and will do so to protect themselves from further pain. the crystals are naturally unstable to a degree and can be "reinforced" by inflicting further pain on them so they solidify themselves further.
