An alpha, beta, and omega gain a new roommate to help with bills and such. The problem is this newcomer was never taught anything about the A/B/O dynamics of society, leaving them heavily socially stilted.

The three are more and more baffled as they observe their roommate. They constantly seek solitude, doesn't understand the basic sounds and scents of others (aside from talking), and is horribly out of tune with their own instincts.

This is going to be a comedy of errors for everyone involved.

Alpha: so we have an interview with a potential roommate this afternoon so everyone be nice

Beta: are they a beta? Or are we going to have to heat proof another room?

Alpha: huh… actually it doesn’t say.. I wonder why?

Omega: there’s lots of reasons someone wouldn’t want to disclose their dynamic! I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about!

And then a few weeks later they’re all living happily together when the new roommate cleans up the living room to be nice but the omega had just finished scenting the whole room and arranging everything the way they like for comfort. The roommate has no idea they’re making the room smell like cleaning supplies and covering up the pack scent. The omega is so distraught and the beta has to explain to the roommate what happened.

Or when the Alpha cooks dinner for everyone and offers some to the roommate. The roommate tries to give them money afterwards for it and the alpha is so confused because they’re just providing for their pack and everyone contributes to groceries anyway.

The roommate and the omega end up curled together on the couch during a movie night and the omega makes a little noise because they’re happy and the roommate panics. They pull away immediately because they think they must have accidentally pulled the omegas hair or squished them or something to make that noise. Cue confused omega noises

i'm tired of hearing about docile omegas, they're care takers they should be ready to fight at the drop of a hat !!

I am a huge fan of Omegas growling when upset. I think it would probably be an uncommon thing just because omegas are treated in a certain way BUT that means that when it happens it is so much more shocking!

I'm thinking about older omegas that watch out for their younger counterparts. Like in a mall if an omega is distressed, a friendly feral grandma omega shows up to growl at people getting in the distressed omega's space.

I love the idea of omegas as caretakers but not passive! Omegas that break into their friend's house to drop off nesting supplies all the while being like "You have shit nesting stuff here you go also im going to be on your couch to make sure no one bugs you okay".

Thinking about omegas that scent mark everything they touch like possessive little monsters. You cannot lend them clothes unless you accept that they will return them completely covered in their scent.

My personal favourite type of feral adjacent omega is kinda bratty and mean but I also love the idea of aggressively supportive and caring feral omega.

HELLO HELLO! I hope this isn't bothersome! I want to know about presenting as an omega (one which is also in public if it's okay?) I've already looked around for this topic, but there's always only a vague description, and that too with a week long span. I want to know about the actual presenting, as in the finale of it! I dont know what this means but im gonna try.

now im not a doctor but neither is the omegaverse so who care.

An omega's body doesnt sexually mature all at one because thats crazy. So for me that means the first few heats are non sexual kinda like when you have period cramps and need a nap. its about letting the omegas body regulate the new hormones they have and any developing organs like a womb or whatever else fits in to your omegaverse.

Eventually their bodies will even out and they will have the traditional heats but I dont think presentation happens like a big event? more of a scent slightly changing over time and then the physical aspects of presentation become more apparent. I think this also leaves room for storylines where someone is expected to be one dynamic but presents as another because of this ambiguity.

I kinda think some Latin American/ hispanic omegas and their families host quinceanera when their first heat comes and goes.

This is so interesting ! I like this! I know that quinceanera are for the 15th birthday and i wonder if this tradition would happen just whenever they present as an omega or if it would be in addition to the 15th birthday?

I think any party based around when an omega presents could be great for giving gifts like first nesting materials or those cheesy teen dating books they have for parents to give their kids.

Thoughts on AU where Betas are actually the lowest respected/esteemed dynamic in the social hierarchy? This is because due to their exclusion from A/O relationships (instead of being the middle ground/pushed aside), they are expected to obey/serve their Alpha and Omega counterparts? Like instead of being outright excluded, they are instead pushed towards this idea of Alpha/Omega superiority, and so they're seen (societally) as more demure, complacent, feeble- as a form of weaponizing their place as "peacemaker."

In general I try to stay away from Omegaverse AUs where one dynamic is inherently deemed as less than the others. (unless im on my terrible mental health arc and then im a little less picky about what i consume)

I just don't see the need for another type of sexism in fantasy? Like I do love a good overcoming oppressive governments and society stories like everyone else. I mean i did grow up reading the hunger games. But overall I think there are better ways to achieve this.

I think that enforcing the Alpha/Omega traditional relationship structure is just bootleg heteronormativity? The appeal of the omegaverse for me is the fact that it is inherently queer and it lends itself to so many beautiful types of stories and relationships.

I do think there are a lot of interesting stories that can be told from a Beta's perspective in worlds with similar societies as the one you're describing! But personally that wouldnt be my main omegaverse world if that makes sense.
