hi guys i just finished veep. uhm. this is the worst ever. guys. she ended up all alone. amy and gary wanted to work for/be around selina SO BADLY and her ambition wouldn't let that happen. she's too proud and egoist to be happy. the scene in the finale with her alone in her office (after calling for gary and sending away amy's replacement) genuinely made me start sobbing. especially because right after we see amy basically waiting outside of the door for selina before leaving because sue (and therefore selina) won't let her in. and selina never got gary back? she didn't pardon him? they never see each other again. even at her funeral all gary can say is that selina would've hated the flowers.
i saw someone on reddit point out that in the finale each staffer has a moment with selina that kind of justifies why they won't be working for her anymore. I will be giving my thoughts on all of those:
-kent won't work for an administration that jonah is a part of. plain and simple. he rejects the numbers. kent. who has been a ROCK entirely reliant on statistics crashes out and chooses his own morals. as upsetting as it is to see him leave, it's amazing to watch him finally do what is right instead of what is most strategic.
-ben has a heart attack. this is one of the saddest moments in the finale for me. selina really does care about ben. she looks up to him and needs him to guide her. i imagine his death would leave her stranded. i think this is the separation that selina had the least control over, so it wrecked her the most.
-idek if I can talk about amy. guys. she "didn't like the way amy talked to her" and then replaced her with another blonde woman. I want to giggle because selina has a type but it's AMY. that's her AME. amy who knows her two fears (bats and alzheimers) and who faked a miscarriage for her and who dry shaved her legs under her desk during a meeting. i don't think selina wanted to push her away, but I think she would've rather done that than face the fact that she actually cared about her.
-actually can't bear the gary situation. he was the most loyal to her out of everyone and she sent him to jail and didn't visit him. FAWK.
-dan leaves politics. actually thank god because he is me and seeing him escape was kind of beautiful. no I will not be discussing the selina/dan fuck and run situation. thank you. go get your real estate bag king I love you (conditionally).
-mike does news and works with jane macabe. I think him and richard are the only people to end better than they started. I'm happy for mike.
the only original staffer selina ends up still working with is sue, only because sue held her position through the montez presidency. the amy separation hits me the hardest. because they worked together so long and that didn't stop selina from pushing her away. the worst part of all of this is that veep is the funniest show I've ever watched and so I was laughing throughout all of this. uhh. yeah. this is the longest post I've ever made but veep is like the best thing ever so who cares. I bet this is how the really dedicated stranger things fans felt because I liked that show but I wasn't as intense about it as I am about veep. percy is so tired. percy loves veep. omjld. thank you.
