2019-09-05 - One Eleven Heavy - Outer Limits Lounge, Hamtramck, Mi
Much has already been written about One Eleven Heavy, so I’ll let the experts do the heavy lifting (here, for instance). But from this dude’s perspective, it was a truly special night to see a band of this quality in an intimate setting like this. I’ve been digging Nick’s music since I was turned on to Desmadrados Soldados De Ventura, likewise for James Toth, and Hans Chew. Just a killer lineup of dudes who can all write and play like crazy. The funny thing with live music is that you never know what will hit you, and for me, it was Dan Brown’s bass. Man. I don’t get to as many “rock and roll” shows as I’d like to these days, but it was sure a pleasure to see him play the bass. RIYL Entwistle / Phil bombs. The entire band smokes, and it was a real joy to experience them live. Check ‘em out if you can. Buy their new album!
I recorded this with my Berliner CM33 Cardioid mics into a R44. I’m super stoked with how good it sounds.
