One Letter Less | Leia & OPEN
Leia swung her signature under the letter like it was the last brush stroke of her very own masterpiece. It was, kind of. Usually she wrote to her parents ever fortnight, but somehow, the last weeks had been so filled with life and stress that Leia had simply dropped herself into bed each evening. The new school year, James Potter’s birthday party, the Hogsmeade weekend, so many things she had filled her parents in within this letter. So the Gryffindor had made sure that this letter was extra carefully written, and had sealed it with a little lion sticker.
Rushing her way up the West Tower to the owlery, Leia cringed when she entered the circular room. It was always breezy up here, which might have been annoying due to flying hair, if it wasn’t probably the only reason this room didn’t smell as bad as it looked. Carefully, she decided to dodge all the owl droppings and pressed her letter to her chest one more time, looking over the school owls to find one that looked the most reliable. It was just when she tried to hand the letter over that one bold owl seared through the air in a fit of duty, ripping it from Leia’s hand, wrinkling it completely in the process, and took off.
Tripping forward, Leia just heard a ‘crunch’ beneath her feet and then, everything was quiet again. Looking under her shoe were the now broken bones of an ex-mouse. Shivers running up her spine, Leia gagged, then sighed.
“I really wish they did this the muggle way here.”, she said, unaware of the steps coming up the stairs behind her.
