Waiheke Island
For our free day in Auckland, a few of the girls and I decided to take a ferry to Waiheke Island. The island is known for its beaches and gorgeous views. I define myself as a beach bum, so I was very excited to get to the island and lay out on the beach all day.
We planned to meet around 10am to get on the ferry, but when I woke up at 8am, I looked outside to see rain. I was skeptical about our beach day, but I also knew that New Zealand was known for its crazy weather, so I hoped that the sun would make an appearance.
The ferry ride there was absolutely beautiful. It was about a 30 minute trip, and the view leaving Auckland was absolutely stunning.
Once we got to Waiheke Island, the sun started to peak through the clouds.
After walking about twenty minutes, we got a quick bite to eat and then went to Oneroa Beach. The crazy thing about Oneroa was that there was barely anyone there! I was expecting the beach to be packed and crazy, but there was plenty of space for us on the beach. There were also many beautiful sea shells! When I first walked on the beach, I spotted 6 giant conch shells, which is rare on the beaches back home.
I fell asleep on the beach, walked around, saved a Starfish from being dried out, waddled in the water, and took a ton of pictures. To top it all off, I even got a couple shades darker with only a little bit of sunburn! Overall, it was the perfect beach day.
