I’m excited to see how far they can push this thing and help steer their team there. Not going to be easy, but feels like the best path to a proper BlackBerry successor of sorts 🤞 A younger @CrackBerryKevin would be content to sit in the stands and blog about what’s happening and complain when there isn’t any movement. An older/wiser (yet equally crazy 🤪) CBK would rather get on the track and drive for the win. With zero hope of a new BlackBerry phone anywhere in sight, helping this crew to build something that could be a worthy BlackBerry successor is something I want to see and help make happen. It’s a HUGE challenge, but I have confidence in this team and the way they’re going about it. I love that they’re Switzerland-based and have a strong stance at every level on privacy and security. And I love that they’re building on open-source solutions where possible (including @GrapheneOS for the mobile OS piece of Aphy). Getting a consumer-friendly solution like this to market and then hopefully getting an OEM customer to put it onto some kickass QWERTY hardware is something I want desperately to see happen. Somehow the world feels right when CBK is jonesing for a new OS and a new phone. It’s going to take time. But there’s at least some hope again.
