I’M NOT DEAD I PROMISE
You know those modes where you’re like, you have a SYSTEM for how you do things, and then you don’t have time to start the first step of the system, so the rest of the system never happens?
That’s me with organizing story files for AU content. I have a whole backstage system for keeping track of dates, who is where at what time, that sort of thing. Normally, I’ll do the date math for a ton of submissions in one go, but since i haven’t had more than an hour to breathe for the past month, i haven’t been able to get the next wave started. But now I do!
And while I’m working on that, I just want to point out that parts 25-28 of Gathering The Hunt all take place the same evening and like, no wonder everyone got so emotional. Girls it was probably way past your bedtime like two chapters ago. XD
Anyways, expect more content soonish! :D
Y'all I'm sorry I promise I'm not dead, just exhausted from moving. I'll be into a routine soon, I promise! It's a three day weekend so at absolute latest there will be posts again early this week

Celebrating Three Years of The Watch AU!
To the Souls Behind the Screen of my Fellow Watchers,
Oh. My. Gosh.
It’s been three years.
What the HECK?!?!?!?!
Hahahaha, remember how last year, I said I’d be doing post rewrites to celebrate, and that they might continue into January? It’s been a whole year since then and I’m still not done.
Okay, okay, serious time. I genuinely don’t know what to say, though. You guys are the source of so much happiness in my life. This AU would not have existed without your encouragement, your characters, your questions, even your sheer presence.
I know my posting schedule has been a bit more irregular this year, and if you have/know anyone with ADHD, it’s probably not hard to imagine why. In the last year, I’ve moved twice, held four different jobs, and had a huge, life-changing career shift. Frankly, for someone with ADHD, it’s more surprising that I’m still here after all that.
But that’s the POINT. Alone, I probably would have set this aside months, even years ago. Even though it gives me so much joy every time I sit down to write and imagine this world, it wouldn’t have been hard for the Real World to drag me away.
But you all have given me a reason to push against the breaks in routine, to feel justified to keep coming back without feeling like I’m ignoring my responsibilities, to go through the effort of rebuilding a routine every time my ADHD finds a crack in the old one.
Not because I feel obligated, but because you are the moral support that keeps me going when I want to keep going. The army of Watchers fighting back against my executive dysfunction, if you will.
If there is one thing that this last year has taught me, both in The Watch AU and without, it’s that humans are built to need help. We need others to amplify our strengths and cover the gaps left by our weaknesses. Asking for and accepting that help, whether offered intentionally or otherwise, is a powerful, powerful thing.
A lot has changed in the last year, both in the JSE community, my life, and the world at large, and pretending that isn’t true doesn’t do anyone any favors. Sean hasn’t done a lot of ego content for a bit, and that’s okay. I don’t have the energy right now to come up with some grand celebratory event on the blog to mark the anniversary, and that’s okay. Things are hard for a lot of people, and that’s... well, maybe not okay, but not their fault. Not your fault.
The Watch is a story about self-acceptance, hope, community, and the desire for a better future, and sometimes those things can only be found in the periods of waiting. It’s hard to feel like you aren’t moving as fast as you want to be or should be, and that’s okay.
No matter what, The Watch will always be here for you, even if it is at a slightly less consistent posting schedule than once upon a time. ;) Thank you, thank you all so much for three wonderful, magical years. Here’s to the next one!
Happy Watcherversary, and as always, Keep The Watch!
