forever mourning that genshin impact didn’t commit & make neuvi a woman.

i’m thinking about all of the law reforms furina has approved & passed over her years co-ruling alongside neuvillette & how she dealt with her people resisting these reforms & changes she approved of & allowed, like when with the melusines.

& then i remembered the surface leveled silly law about how no pet was allowed to be named furina. it sounds funny at first but in my opinion furina is very much aware of how she’s perceived by a good portion of her people. as a celebrity, as a mascot more than anything. she isn’t oblivious or dumb to this. & i’m sure, as harmless as it might be to some to name pets after her even out of affection for her, the thought of it to her must have been an extremely dehumanizing idea.

to have animals with her name on them when the people she loves the most would so easily refer to her as a mascot. save some form of her sanity & avoid that from happening instead hence the law.

me explaining furina/focalors to you.

remuria is a what if scenario of fontaine's bad ending for a multitude of reasons. the one that stood out to me the most is the arrogance that simply festered in remuria & how they believed themselves superior & above the "savages" natives to fontaine ( i wanted to punch boethius so many times ) & how late it took remus to notice this corruption & how power hungry & all consuming the methods were.

remus was from sumeru & he had his land taken over by the scarlet king so he unintentionally copied that very same method on to fontaine. wanting to unite everybody under one banner by force.

this arrogance born from their belief of being perfect & above all is something that did not get the best of furina. when furina had her divinity in herself she chose to leave her humanity absolutely powerless, keeping her humble & humbled she stayed even through her misery. furina never thought herself to be above anybody else, she never believed herself to be powerful, she knew that she wasn't. she was just playing the role assigned to her.

another thing that stood out to me about why remuria fell & why it's the fontaine what if bad ending is that they made it their task to point out that boethius caught winds of remus & scylla's secret plan in a last ditch attempt to save remuria. the fact that boethius found out about this plan is what marked remuria's downfall in stone even if it was already in the progress of doing so.

this detail is so important because this is precisely why furina couldn't tell nor talk to anybody about anything these last centuries even if she was dying to tell someone. if she had spoken about her secret, little as hinted it to anybody she very much would have doomed fontaine in that same identical fashion.

furina drawing parallels from characters like remus, cassiodor, & erinnyes all at once is something that means the world to me because she has all of these historical figures in fontaine, ones i've been dying to know more of & see. i'm still hoping to see more of erinnyes in the future, the notes i found mentioning her in remuria break my heart, but i understand why those notes regard her in such a villainized light since she was so against remuria.

what's wonderful to me though is that all of these historical figures & their relationships amongst one another also parallel & compliment so many of the relationships furina has already. this is all surface level, but just to paint a picture of what i mean;

cassiodor & remus could well be seen as clorinde & furina or if you're more inclined to angst then erinnyes & egeria could also be clorinde & furina.

scylla & remus are like neuvillette & furina

scylla & egeria can be like wriothesley & furina as scylla was egeria's warden when she was locked away & wriothesley is the warden of the fortress of meropide.

again, some of these are more surface leveled than the rest but the fact that you can point them out so easily & take inspiration from them is something i absolutely adore.

i tried to find out what hsr is about but all i see is shipping discourse so i think i'll just wait on wuthering waves than try another hoyoverse game.
