Hidan in a hoodie! *heart eyes* he looks so cute in that! How would he look wearing one of Kakuzu's that he'd secretly borrowed (or more likely stolen)? And how would Kakuzu react?
I dunno man
But here’s my take brought to you by late night doodles
Thank you! <3
hey ur a rammstein fan right. whats radio about? i read the translation but i dont get it really, its very metaphorical and stuff but id really like to know because its my favourite one of them so far
Back in the German Democratic Republic it was not necessarily illegal but still quite frowned upon to listen to western radio stations. My father was once caught by his dad listening to west German radio which earned him a slap across the face, so yeah.
But that's basically what the song is about. Since the western radio stations played the most recent music, people from the GDR sometimes missed out, felt left out. ("Wir durften nicht dazu gehören" - "we weren't allowed to be a part of it")
So Till is singing about secretly listening to western radio, "escaping this world" which is the GDR I'd assume, and just being glued to the radio cause it's so fascinating and much more interesting than the entertainment he's used to.
And if I'm not mistaken, it wasn't allowed for GDR musicians to criticize the political system in their songs. You were a public enemy if you did. That's why Till is singing stuff like "so gefährlich, fremde Noten" ("so dangerous, those foreign notes"). There were rebellious GDR bands who didn't give a fuck (99% punk bands lol) and were still very much criticizing the political system so the state just banned them.
Also him mentioning "keine Grenzen, keine Zäune" ("no borders, no fences") when talking about "climbing on the back of the music and floating through every room" sounds very much like "when I'm listening to western radio I feel like the wall separating this country doesn't exist for just a moment".
In the music video soldiers are storming the hall Rammstein are performing in, they're trying to silence them like the GDR silenced those rebellious groups I mentioned earlier. But once they get to them they're just holograms as in "we're affecting the people and will go down in history and you can't silence or stop us".
This is so messy but I tried my best.
Tl;dr the GDR wasn't a fan of western radio stations, people still listened to them, sometimes in secret and since all six Rammstein members grew up in the GDR this song is most definitely about this time and topic.
If I said something that's incorrect, please correct me.
