asha leans over and wrap an arm comfortingly around nevarine's shoulders, pulling her closer into her side, and smooching the side of her head.
Nevarine had forgotten how comforting such small gestures could be. The previous week had been the most stressful thus far, and she was disheartened. She wouldn’t dare ever show it, but everything was starting to get to her. These people around her...she felt like they depended on her. She knew that wasn’t wholly true; they didn’t need her. They were powerful, independent people who truly had no need for a young girl playing a Grey Warden. And yet, she felt responsible for her friends and their safety. She loved these people, and the weight of their uncertain futures fell heavy on her shoulders.
She wondered if Asharis had noticed; if that was why she did what she did. The arm she curled around her seemed to pull her away from the dour thoughts that clouded her mind if only for a moment. It was a surprising act. Asharis didn’t seem the type to hand out such gentle gestures haplessly. Perhaps that is why it meant more to Nevarine.
“Thank you,” the Cousland whispered, no sign of protest from her in response to the small comfort Asharis offered. She couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps the elven woman felt the same burden as well.
