How could anyone ever succumb to alcoholism when it made you feel as if your head were to fall off your shoulders at any given moment the next day? Not to mention, her teeth had felt so furry the next day and her arms ached for God knows what reason, so when class was promptly canceled, Eliza was more than thrilled to crawl back into bed. As far as she was concerned, the world outside her dorm room was canceled too, she’d try again tomorrow.
In the midst of eager bodies to get out of class yesterday, however, Eliza was pummeled by shoulders and the cheering made her cover her ears. Her skull had been pounding and she’d never had a migraine before but she suspected this was worse. With nothing else in mind but her bed and pajamas, the little Fenwick grabbed her satchel and skedaddled, unaware that some personal belongings clattered to the floor in the process. That is, until the next day when she went looking, unable to come up with her possessions without a clue of where they’d gone.
Charting her path from the day before, she poked her head over tables and under chairs, she even asked any nearby staff if anybody had handed her things in. She didn’t want to say what it was exactly, but it was leatherbound and had her initials on the front of it, a dear present from Damian this birthday just passed. Oh God... if anybody thought to look in her diary, that was it, she would never survive the severe embarrassment.
“Are you sure? Are you absolutely positive?” She begged the nun in the hallway who quite frankly, seemed as unimpressed with Eliza’s uncharacteristic desperation as she would be remembering it later that night. “Please, this is very important, it’s a leather journal. It’s very hard to miss. Are you sure nobody has handed it in?”
