Khaite Till Tomorrow Summer Spring 22
The Opal Dress in Black
One year later some changes were made to the Opal dress. I wasn’t satisfied with the skirt and completely disassembled it. I turned the four colour-stroke skirts into two double-circle skirts. The iridescent and tule layers were flipped. It fits and looks a lot better now.
I've been sewing again. So here is some progress on the opal dress. A rough guide for the rhinestone placement and hand embroidered rainbow eyelets!
The opal inspired dress is finally done.
The top has a ridiculous amount of AB rhinstones that I stitched on one by one; and in the end a good deal of them are covered by the waistband. It also features hand stitched rainbow eyelets. On my back is a giant flower piece that hangs halfway across the skirt. The skirt is made of six layers. Four gathered skirts in different colored strokes of organza, a creme tule layer and a top layer of iridescent organza.

Got my test bags of rhinestones I ordered of aliexpress. I was pretty nervous, because I was afraid of scams. That's why I got only a small amount as a test for €10. They're pretty good for what I paid so I'll be getting the full batch when I start the dress.
This is for the opal/dawn dress of course
A quick sketch of a dress I might want to make. It’s an opal inspired variation of this dress. All of the pastel colours! The crystal stones would instead of clear be either opal or crystal AB coloured. The skirt would be several layers of colored tulle/organza to achieve the opal colours. The headpiece, flowers, wig would all be multicolored as well. Whether I’m going to make it really depends on how much it’s going to cost me. The top is completely covered in stones, so yeah, that will cost a bit. If someone has money saving tips, I’d love to hear them?
