They are a legion, They are Anonymous
When I first heard of Anonymous, I viewed them as a group of renegades making their origins on 4Chan. Little did I know that these computer hackers, these hacktivists as they prefer to be called, are the next big thing, and that next big thing is this generation's youth.
As far as the public is aware, Anonymous is a leaderless entity. They go after powerful organizations such as the Church of Scientology, and the Westboro Baptist Church. The root of their causes aren't just for what they call the lulz, its for the rights of free speech, freedom of information, and basic human freedoms.
For example Egypt was going through a uprising, mainly to overthrow their leader Mubarak. Egypt shut down the internet, Anonymous developed Proxies for the Egyptians to communicate through their points of view of the riot.
Every incident, every cause, and every violation mentioned, is what makes Anonymous tick. Anonymous calls their causes "Operations", each Operation is carried out as either a Denial of Service Attack or a reformat. Such operations that were carried for example were Operation Blitzkrieg, Operation Darknet, and Operation Chanology.
As I said about their origins the one thing that I should mention is that they started out on Image boards such as 4chan, and Encyclopedia Dramatica, and the use of Anonymous is what is known as a internet meme on those particular sites.
Little of what I know about Encyclopedia Dramatica is what I hear off of the Autism Rights message board Aspiesforfreedom.com, which apparently is a target for the lulz on Encyclopedia Dramatica.
The main question I do want to ask is this: Do you, as individual support the entity known as Anonymous? Do you agree to their causes? Do you agree to their personal views? If so.... why?
