Eilonwy was born and raised in Wales. Her mother and father were the last remaining members of an ancient bloodline of witches and wizards and they died when she was very young, leaving her to be adopted by a witch named Achren who wished to steal her family’s magic. Achren had Eilonwy work as a scullery maid in her home, denying her the chance to go to Hogwarts when she got her letter. By the time she was fifteen she was able to convince Achren to allow her to attend Ilvermorny instead but the damage had been done, her magical growth was irrevocably stunted as a result of not having trained at it earlier.
Despite being unskilled at magic, she has enormous potential and is a fairly quick study. Eilonwy has one trinket from her parents that Achren left to her, thinking that it was nothing but a simple orb pendant. Achren took the family’s ancient tome of spells to take the ancient powerful Llyr magic but the book remains locked tight. Little does Achren know that Eilonwy’s pendant or “bauble” as Eilonwy calls it, is the key to opening it.
In order to pay for school, Eilonwy is a dishwasher and kitchen cleaner at the Peg Leg in Greylock’s Landing. She’s looking for a cheap place to rent near by so she doesn’t have to return home. If she doesn’t go home she can’t one day reclaim her family’s inheritance but she doesn’t care. She wants to escape Achren at any cost but she doesn’t yet truly understand what the cost is and what she’s leaving behind. Will she ever learn the truth about her family’s magic and if she does will it even change anything?
