Charlotte Moreau group up in a very cultured family, her mother was French and Bulgarian and her father was British and Latin. For the first twelve years of her life, she was happy. She and her family would take many trips, her parents enjoyed teaching their daughter about their cultures, they also taught her to speak the different languages as their ancestors. Her home was also always filled with music, laughter, and art. Her mother worked at the middle school teaching art and her father was a music professor at a university. Despite their busy schedules, they still made time to teach their daughter and spend time with her. Charlotte loved her parents until the tragic accident that took them away. They went hiking up in the mountains, Charlotte had wanted to stay in her own tent thinking she was a big girl but that was the move she will regret for the rest of her life. It was midnight when Charlotte awoke to silent muffled noises. Her first thought was there might be an animal which is what made her stay in her tent until she saw the zipper slowly open, that’s when she caught a glimpse of the strange man’s face. He looked like the monsters in her scary books, he had fangs and his face was filled with blood but there was something in his eyes, something even a twelve-year-old Charlotte caught, regret. The monster took off and she was frozen in fear until cops showed up at the campsite a few hours later, they found a terrified Charlotte and in the tent beside her, they found her parents, something had torn into their throats and all the blood in their bodies was gone. She told the police officers what she had seen and they all assumed she was having a nightmare, that it couldn’t have possibly been a human that did that but they were wrong, she knew what she saw.
Charlotte was taken into child protected services until her distant uncle and his wife could come and pick Charlotte up. Charlotte never knew her uncle, her father always said he wasn’t a nice man so when Charlotte found out that she would be living with him, she was scared but what else could she do? It would take her ages to be adopted if she went into an orphanage. The first few months with her aunt and uncle were alright. She had horrible nightmares, seeing that monster every night but she didn’t tell no one, kept it to herself. When she turned thirteen, her aunt gave her a bracelet and told her to always wear it, little did she know that the bracelet was to not only keep her powers at bay but allow her aunt to use the small child’s powers whenever she pleased. Charlotte’s family was extraordinary, her parents were kind hearted people but they were also powerful witches from a coven by the name of The Marked Ones, the name came from the small birthmark that each witch at birth had behind their shoulder. Her parents never told Charlotte because they were waiting for the night of her sixteenth birthday when her powers would fully come in. Her aunt knew if she continued to steal Charlotte magic, on her sixteenth birthday, she would take her powers. Charlotte was the last in the generation of her coven which meant all her ancestors magic resided inside her making her a very powerful witch. Charlotte was kept in the dark about her magic and she went on not knowing until the night her uncle came to visit her in her bedroom late at night. He told her, he wanted to play a game but the game was sick, perverted and disgusting, he raped her that night and every other night to come.
She became manipulated by him, taught to believe that if she uttered a word that he was going to bring the monster from her dreams out. Not only was she getting manipulated and abused by her uncle at home, she was also getting mentally, emotionally and physically abused at school, she didn’t talk much and kept to herself and she was pretty and that gave the other girls a reason to make fun of her. It continued on when she was finally sixteen she was such a broken and damaged child. She had nightmares and disorders because of all the abuse from home and school. The night right before her sixteenth birthday, she had a dream of her mother, in her dream, her mother removed her bracelet and told her to let in the light. She was confused when she woke up and she realized the bracelet her aunt gave her was gone. Her aunt couldn’t take her powers but Charlotte still knew nothing and her powers would sit at bay until she finally accepted them.
By the time she graduated high school, she wanted to get out of her town but her uncle kept a horrible grasp on her and she was to broken to fight back, too tired to fight. It was soon after her graduation that she attempted her first suicide, she swallowed a bottle of pills but her uncle found her, brought her to the hospital and pumped her stomach just in time. Her second attempt was when she cut her wrists at the young age of twenty but again, someone found her and brought her to the hospital, that someone was a kind man who had just moved into town, his name was Maxwell Edwards and it took no time at all for the two to fall in love with one another. He helped her forget all the pain but after a year of dating, her uncle ruined it all, he told Maxwell that Charlotte was cheating on him, showed him naked pictures of her that a man sent to his address but in reality, those naked pictures were taken without permission by her uncle but of course, Maxwell fell into his trap and after a big fight, he left. Charlotte sat in her small room thinking of all that happened to her and that’s when she sat down in front of a camera and recorded herself. She was going to make a long video, one last memory of her before she finally killed herself, for good this time. In that video, she told her entire life story until now and she ended it with goodbye, she was going to send that video to everyone who ever hurt her and to Maxwell so he would know the truth. After mailing that video, she took a long drive, tears staining her cheeks as she pulled up to the bridge, got out, climbed over the railing and jumped.
She woke up with a burning hunger in her throat and in a room that she didn’t know. Someone had saved her and that someone was a man she hadn’t gotten to know well, he was always the quiet guy in town, what she didn’t know was that he was the same species as the monster that killed her parents. She was angry at first when he told her everything, she wanted to die and he had stopped her and she was going to kill herself because she didn’t want to be a monster but then he told her, told her about that small life inside of her. Before Maxwell had left, he had left behind a daughter in her stomach and because of her magic, her daughter was shielded and survived and would soon come to be born a half witch, half vampire, and half human child. Her daughter was the one who truly saved her life. She moved to Woodbury soon after giving birth, the man that turned her told her how accepting people were of different species there and that’s where she settled with her daughter for the last thirty-nine years, her daughter stopped aging at the age of eighteen and grew to be an amazing child, despite still having many disorders and insecurities, if she didn’t have her daughter, she would be broken her daughter is her strength, her piece.
Charlotte ended up adopting twin siblings who needed a home and who no one else wished to adopt because they had some health problems, Pentalogy of Cantrell or thoraco-abdominal syndrome is a rare syndrome that causes defects involving the diaphragm, abdominal wall, pericardium, heart and lower sternum. The little girl who Charlotte came to name Ariana would undergo a few surgeries in her young life but seeing as how Charlotte had the money to give her new daughter the surgeries, she did it. Her son who was Ariana's twin brother she came to name Aiden had a condition called Hirschsprung Disease which is a birth defect in which nerve cells are missing at the end of a child’s bowel and Aiden also underwent surgery to heal him. Charlotte treats all her children the same, Elena is a kind hearted but sassy girl, Ariana falls for the wrong guys and has a temper but she's a survivor and Aiden is a sweet and artistic young man and they are all living out the beauties the world has to offer together.
