Neil Wallis to appear at Westminster magistrates court

Officers from Operation Pinetree have today (31 July) summonsed a man to appear at court.

Neil Wallis, 63 , of Chiswick, a former journalist, was summonsed to Westminster Magistrates’ Court on the same date for conspiracy to intercept communications in the course of their transmission without lawful authority, namely the voicemail messages of well-known people and those associated with them.

No futher action taken against 5 journalists investigated as part of Operation Weeting and Operation Pinetree

On 13 February 2013 officers from Operation Weeting arrested six people on suspicion of conspiracy to intercept telephone communications contrary to the Criminal Law Act 1997. All of them were journalists or former journalists.
