HAPPY OPERATION PITFALL DAY!!!

It is finally here and we all made it folks!

We have cancelled the apocalypse!

This video feels a bit more symbolic and personal...

While I haven't been active very often on this blog over the last few years, "Pacific Rim" has been the movie that's probably had the greatest influence on my life ever since I saw it back in July of 2013 for many, many reasons (that would take way too long to explore in depth here, and make this post probably much heavier than it should be).

I don't think that my interest in the original movie has ever fully or truly waned. It's more a question of having explored most of what was available to explore from it, and a lot of fellow fans having moved on to other fandoms and personal interests since.

Of course, I've been exploring other fandoms and personal interests since, too.

One of them being "The Witcher", and the absolutely wonderful music co-created by Joey Batey (that plays Jaskier the bard on the show) and Madeleine Hyland from "The Amazing Devil".

So, I felt like celebrating January 12, 2025 - the day where "Pacific Rim" no longer remains a "futuristic movie", but instead becomes part of the present for one last, brief day before its timeline finally fully enters history - by combining some of the themes of a movie that I've been irrevocably in love with since 2013...

...with the music from a band that is currently moving my soul like no other.

And I'm even going to take a page from Batey's book by letting you all interpret those themes through your own personal lenses, rather than telling you what the video is specifically about, or what it personally meant to me while I was putting it together.

So, to all "Pacific Rim" (and "The Amazing Devil") fans out there, I'm wishing you all to have a wonderful Operation Pitfall Day!

I feel like so much has happened since the last time...

Holy shit!

I've just realised that I was born May 30th 1981, while Herc Hansen was born on November 10th 1980.

And my dad was born on May 27th 1950, while my mom was born on November 7th 1949.

The age difference between my two parents is the exact same age difference there is between Herc and I!

And I just had to realize this on Operation Pitfall Day?!
