i have to call my boss to see if they need me to come in

because apparently everyone is evacuating and the seaside bridge is closing after 5 like this is some i am legend movie so if i have a 2-7 shift obviously i can't go to work if that is the case but my mom is basically telling me to say i can't come in. but i'm confused on how to word it because if it is not true, then i guess i could still go to work but if it is true i obviously can't. but i don't want my mom to freak out on me if i basically volunteer to come in because it might not be a good idea. ugh i have a hard time talking to people and communicating effectively.
