There's a distinct lack of Red Alert headcanons. It's time to fix that. So please give me some h/c's about him falling in love with a gentle and kind bot!
LIL ANXIOUS BOI MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. Also, “falling in love” request once again! I adore them, I need more of them in my life.
Red Alert
Dis poor boy, poor anxious paranoiac.
When he first saw his s/o, standing there a little bit nervous to go on board of the Lost Light, he was speechless, as cliche as it’s sounds. Then he became nervous himself - he’s never seen them, who are they? A new member of the crew? Why no one told him?
It was Rodimus fault that Red Alert, THE HEAD OF SECURITY, knew nothing about you. He “just forgot to give him their resume”. So it’s kind of Rodimus fault that Red Alert avoided you like plague first few weeks of your new life on ship. Eventually, he got s/os files and read them all. He was surprised to see that their files were clean of any laws’ violation. Due to s/os files hey were probably the most flawless bot on this ship. At least when it came to law violations.
Now he is less afraid, but still not comfortable enough to even talk to them.
For him, it will be so hard to fall in love. He is so afraid of everything. What if his future s/o is a traitor? There’s been a lot of them on the Lost Light already. Of course, their files are clean, but, y’know. Anything can happen. But they also seems so interesting…
S/o noticed him, despite his hiding. They were kind of shy and anxious themselves, but when they went to Rung and told him about their wish to speak to Red Alert. They were surprised when Rung chuckled at this. He apologized right after and told them, that they should try to talk to head of security. He also had such a knowing smile. S/o wondered if he knew something about their situation that they didn’t know.
Red Alert almost jumped when you approached him. He looked at you like you was the scariest thing in the whole Universe. And, to be honest, in that exact moment - you were. He responded a few times, but the conversation didn’t go well, he quickly excused himself and went to his office, almost fled to his office. But this was a start, right?
It’ll be hard for Red Alert to fall for s/o. And for them trying to make him open up would be just as hard. But eventually both things will happen.
At first, he rarely answered them. After a week he started to talk to them for real. A few weeks later he was the one to start a conversation. One more day - and he laughed at their joke.
This was a slow progress, but it was a progress. S/o couldn’t be happier. In fact, they started to develop a small crush on Red Alert. They didn’t tell anyone, though, even Rung.
In the meantime, Red Alert thought of them as a friend. A good friend, maybe. He still had a lot of secrets which he never told them about. He also still was a bit paranoid, because the chances of them being nice for their own benefits were still high. But he started to warm up to them.
But then, something happened. After a few more weeks Red Alert started to notice new… things about himself. He had always been observant, but for a quite long time he became even more observant. He looked at you and he noticed things he never thought were important before. Like the way your armor glitters in the lights, the way your optics struggle to stay online when you need to recharge, the way your hands nervously shake when you talk to Cyclonus or Magnus. And he liked it.
Every little thing seemed cute for him. His spark seemed to skip beats when you speaked. He often watched you on cameras (nothing creepy, of course. Ok, maybe a bit creepy) wondering through the ship. Red Alert felt something entirely new. And this freaked him out.
So he just ignored them the next time he saw them. And next time. And next. Basically, he started ingoring them ever since he felt something new.
S/o freaked out. Red Alert freaked out. And only Rung could help them, because - they both went ot him for help! Of course, he is Rung after all.
Red Alert talked about this new and weird feelings. Or maybe not feelings, maybe it was some kind of disease or something, surely it just can’t be something super-easy, like, a crush maybe? Naah, that is totally not a crush. Just weird feelings. Yes. Scary, new and weird. Yes.
Rung: sigh
OH NO RUNG WHAT SHOULD I DO, I THINK I DID SOMETHING WRONG, NOW RED ALERT DON’T WANT TO TALK TO ME, HELP ME, PLEASE, I DON’T WANT TO LOSE HIM, RUUUUNG

Rung listens with a patient smile and gives them the same advice - try and talk to each other. He hopes that it’ll work, because it’ll help both. Red Alert will learn how to trust someone, and you will learn how to love someone as weirdly fragile as Red.
S/o took this advice. Red Alert... Not so much. He tried to build up some courage to go and talk to s/o, but every time all he could do is run away from them again.
But s/o won’t give up so easily! They will try to approach Red Alert again and again, untill they catch him.
Their spark almost breaks when he jumps back from them, optics wide-open. They didn’t expect this, but... It was Red. He was just... surprised. Yeah. S/o needed to be patient to climb over the walls he build to defend himself.
When they started to talk, Red Alert looked abashed at first. He thought that after all of his distancing they will hate him, yell at him... But they asked him about his well-being. Did they do something wrong? He shakes his head. Does he not want them around anymore? He shakes his head. They keep carefully ask him and...
Red just couldn’t have it anymore. They are too good, they are so careful, and he just left him because he was scared to admit that he fell for them, hard.
And he just abruptly interrupt their speech and just start speaking. And s/o is just shooked, because. He starts spilling everything out. How he felt when they meet them, how they made him smile, how he thinks that they’re beautiful, how he got so scared, because he couldn’t stop thinking about kissing them...
When he is finished, they are literally crying because of all the happiness and relief they feel. And Red freaks out again. But then they ask him if is’ll be ok if they hug him. He freezes and then hesitantly nods.
They hug him and he hug them in return. And this is the most precious feeling Red Alert ever felt in his life. It feels so right and he feels safe.
No, he is not crying too! Nope, nope, nope!
S/o is laughing happily and carefully kisses his nose.

OH, NOW S/O IS FREAKING OUT, BECAUSE RED ALERTS PLATING IS HOT AF AND HIS FANS WORKING LIKE SOME SPACESHIP ENGINES.
