@not-close-to-straight wants to know about our fav fanfics, for writers apperciation day. It was yesterday, so I missed it but I’ll tell you anyhow because I can’t talk about this fic enough.

It’s a 00Q, James Bond/Q fic. It is the fic that really pulled me into the 00Q trashcan. It was so well written, funny, sweet and clever. A re-imagining of the two characters meeting leading up to the events of Skyfall. Not only did it win me over on the pairing but it also is the start of my love of ‘wrong number’ type fics. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good fic too read, you really don’t even need to be all that familiar with the fandom or into that pairing. Although you might be by the time you finish it.

More than anything, Mike Taylor wanted to be ordinary. Being a genius, he learned early in life, meant people expected too much. A career at the MI6 Help Desk seemed the perfect way to guarantee a lifetime of obscurity, until he got a very unusual tech support call.
Ah, I love this one! I love reading about how Mike and James’ relationship grows, from friendship into maybe something else. I love how the action is written too, from all the build up scenes to the final action climax. I adored all the pop culture references (and that James made almost all of them!) I loved watching Mike grow too, from just wanting to be nothing other than tech support, into Q.

Ordinary Numbers is another 00Q that Bootsnblossoms and I wrote over a year ago. As it turns out, we should’ve done better research, because we got UK employment law completely wrong. Taylor would’ve been able to take time off when he was sick. But it made for a cute scene, with Bond playing long-distance mom and scolding Taylor about working while ill.
Bonus fact: Sorted by kudos, it’s still #1 on the list of works I’ve written/co-written, though Critical Feline Mass (written with zooeyscigar) is catching up!
So I'm watching Skyfall again
And during his beach bum scenes all I can think is, he's just wondering why Mike hasn't called.
I want to open a internet cafe called Ordinary Numbers and have a stuffed snake by the cash register and tables set up like cubicles.
