she’s seated at his side. with her chin resting upon the tops of her knees, and feet buried deep in the fading warmth of the beach’s sand. her gaze lingers on the oddment of the canoe she had borrowed from the flotilla. remnants of such that now lay scattered across the sands. “------maui.” moana starts in absent, her head lifting in favor of turning her gaze onto him. “i’m not a princess.” the correction softens ever slightly as she picks up on his recoil. a moment beats by, and she climbs back, onto her feet.
deft fingers press lightly against the small cluster of wounds at the center of his bicep. a frown curves her features and for another second or so she contemplates. it’s a decision that’s easily made as she shifts and tears at the outer layer of her skirt, and she’s quick to use it as makeshift bindings. tying off his injuries even if he considered the action redundant. “but, you know, with that logic this makes you the princess.” she’s joking now-----trying to lure out that boisterous side of him in a means to cheer him it. still, her hands linger at the cloth------
from a distance, their ( maui’s and tūmatauenga’s ) fight had looked like that of an unfavorable storm. one that moana had initially turned away from with every intention of avoiding said storm in face of keeping everyone safe. if it hadn’t been for that nagging inkling that something horrible was happening gnawing at her senses, moana wouldn’t have boarded one of the smaller canoes and sailed into tempest's gale. she inevitably wouldn’t have rescued him, as he put it. but it’s those thoughts of ‘what ifs’ that weigh on her now.
“what started that? why were you fighting the war god?”
