“Tsukiko’s next invention: migrating paint!”
“[the Headmaster] He’s got his very own SEP* field”
*SEP: Someone Else’s Problem
As the group is settling in to the school year--they’re only a few weeks in, a month at most--a pattern of interaction is emerging. Sitting together at lunch, going off for food after classes and club meetings are done for the day, and so on.
In-game, Sendai was the location of An Event™ that leveled several blocks in to dust. A memorial has been built for it, and the area was redeveloped after it was determined that there were no lingering hazards. The event was chalked up to being a terrorist attack (no one ever came forward to lay claim on the event, insofar as the characters know).
A plaque at the memorial reads “For the 75, the 17, and the 1″.
Oren’s father died in the Sendai Explosion, and as such her aunt and uncle have decided to take her there over the weekend. They tell her to invite her friends (everyone’s characters) to come along. She does so, and asks them for help with what she should bring to the shrine. Tsukiko provides a helpful correlation and explanation, and when the weekend arrives, they all take the train to Sendai.
Kuzo is not enthused. He has a look on his face that one can describe as ‘dazed and terrified’. It’s like he’s walking around in deja-vu mode and it’s only Tsukiko’s quick thinking of stopping to go in to a restaurant that saves him for a bit. She picks up on the fact that he’s terrified but doesn’t get quite why; Oren herself is in a similar situation but given that she’s going to see the area near where her father died... Well. Ichiro seems to just be observing things the entire trip--he’s got no stake in this but he’s along for the trip because he was invited, and having friends who aren’t gang-members is kind of new for him.
The characters all get to the absolute edge of the memorial park--which is built on the edge of the blast zone--and Kuzo comes to a dead stop. He hands Oren an unsealed envelope (his hands might have been shaking?), tells her “give this to your father” and then turns and literally flies away. Oren stares after him for a moment or three and then finds a somewhat quieter place in the park to set down her offerings and the envelope from Kuzo.
The envelope contained a lovely sumi-e of a mountainside, and hidden within it is the word/kanji for ‘serenity’ written repeatedly.
Upon getting back to Iwaki, Tsukiko and Haruna (NPC) go looking for Kuzo but can’t find him. Oren comes in a bit early on the first school day after the visit and very quietly thanks Kuzo, and asks him if he’s all right. He gives a non-committal answer that indicates he’s probably going to be and Oren doesn’t push. Later in the week, Kuzo informs the others of one thing about the area of Sendai they were in.
“I go there in my nightmares”.

I’m keeping track of all this out of 1, being able to retell the hilarious and epic moments later, and 2, being able to give folks a view in to how our game is progressing.
