A teammate casually asked me the other day what kind of wedding I had, and when I expressed some confusion about this question (you know, having never been married) she responded with some surprise that she was for some reason sure I had a spouse. When I relayed this story to a dear friend of mine - bemused, a little sad because getting married someday is important to me and rn seems about as likely as a snowstorm hitting San Francisco in the middle of July - *she* replied that I've always had "married vibes" which I have decided to take as a baffling compliment. Isolated incidents. Weird that it happened twice, etc.

Except TODAY a teammate I have been skating with for MORE THAN A YEAR casually said "you know, you never talk about your wife" and I stopped so short I almost tripped over my own shoes. Girl not only do I not have a wife but I have been through a breakup in the time that we've known one another??

WHAT alternate universe are y'all living in and can I come live there too.

You know, I'm the exact definition of irresponsible sometimes.

Like if we had to define irresponsibility down to a basic human-error kinda level, youd just find a picture of me.

Seriously, me. 'Oh yeah its 3 AM, I should prolly be sleeping.. so let's put on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 no I'm sure I wont get sucked into this.' Lo and behold, 2 and a half hours later, I'm in tears of joy having watched Guardians 2 for like the 800th time, and still haven't gotten an ounce of sleep in.

someone asked me out and I said flattered but no thank you and she said is it just too soon and I forgot to have manners and said "I don't date people who use ChatGPT" anyway the friend group is *several people are typing* about it

the gap between realizing you have to break up with someone and actually sitting down to have that conversation with them has to be one of the top 5 worst liminal spaces

I took home my grandmother's boxes of recipe cards - her recipes, her mother's, and her grandmother's. Told my mom I would digitize them, and then try to type out the ones I could read (handwriting is hard) and she said "OH, no. That's what AI is for! And then you just proofread it and make corrections."

Uhm no I shall not be outsourcing the task I'm using to process grief and affirm my connection to the women who came before me to a computer. Thanks tho??

My best friend, after watching me careen recklessly from "I'm totally joining the hockey league" to "there's no point to ever skating again" for the better part of two weeks, messaged me to say he's buying skates next weekend if I'd like to come

Sure, I said, but why would you buy skates? You don't even like skating.

Because, he said, when you're playing hockey you'll want to hit the rink for extra sessions every week or so and you're gonna want a friend for that :)

Anyway we set a time to go get skates and I feel very loved. Friendship is neat.

The upside to 26hrs of OT and 16 straight days of work is that I no longer feel bad about buying the nicer hockey stick, so there's that.

imagine being 82 and getting arrested bc you hitch hiked from your assisted living facility to a bar, got drunk out of your mind, and then WALKED more than a mile to the highway sans walker to catch a ride home
