This was one of the first videos that we did for someone else: Acrylick Freedom Ride 2011. Filming on the road was rather epic. We had to set up in random spots along their pathway.

Inspired by and dedicated to Jody Cajudo. "One year ago I made one of the most critical decisions in my life. Looking back at it today, I could not be happier. That decision helped me find a new passion, develop as a person, and help me meet new people who I now consider my family. However, I never thought I would meet someone who would impact my life as much as she already has. When I first met her, I never thought that she would be as important as she is to me. It feels like we have gone through so much already and I know that we will continue to be there for each other no matter what. As for this piece, I took a very different approach than usual. I knew when I first heard this album, that I wanted to do a piece to this song but I did not think that I would get hit with inspiration in this way. When I realized how significant she was in my life, I was instantly inspired and the song matched so well that the ideas came to me nonstop. This was both the easiest yet most difficult time I have had making choreography because even though I had so many ideas and was so easily inspired, I wanted to make sure it was perfect. It was easy to tell when I was finished though because it just felt right. As for the concept of the video, (500) Days of Summer is one of our favorites. We happened to be watching it together and even though I was aware of the line in the movie, never did I think that it would relate to me so much. It really struck me and it felt like destiny because it related to the song and choreo perfectly so I knew I had to use it. This whole project is just something I am very proud of. I wanted to do it just to show, in my own way, my love for her. I love you, Jody Cajudo. Thank you for being a part of my life." -Matt De Leon
2011 A Year of Opportunity
Looking back on this year, solely from a business perspective, it's hard to believe how much we (ORI9INALNINE) as a team, and a family accomplished. I'd like to think that this year was definitely a great learning experience for us, finding out more about who we were as a production team, what we wanted, and really taking initiative with what started out as a small idea, to the point where we're starting to become more established. 2011 was definitely full of numerous opportunities that I'm glad to say we seized. I'm blessed to say we worked with countless people I never thought we would do business with.
First and foremost, what really pushed us forward was being able to work with Linkxchange at the beginning of the year. Shout out to Vo for always looking out for us. One of our first major opportunities, we started off by filming and shooting the lookbook for Linkxchange's spring/summer collection. And from here we were actually able to meet a lot of other people, who I’m proud to say we worked with and whom I’ll talk about later. Further on in the year, we also had the opportunity to take photos for a couple clubs here and there (Highlands and some other one I forgot), while also promoting Linkxchange. And now more recently, we worked again with Linkxchange shooting the lookbook for their winter collection, along with another behind the scenes video. (Linkxchangeonline.com)
Summer was when things really picked up. We started off with another great opportunity where we were able to film and take pictures for a graduation party. After that, we then got a gig to shoot for our friend’s Debut. Then one of the bigger highlights of the summer, was shooting our first music video for Rill, an artist from Duarte whom we met at the Linkxchange photoshoot earlier in the year. (Check it out: Rill-The Epiphany) Then, also another one of our bigger highlights of the summer, was when we got to work with NBA star, Detroit Piston, Austin Daye(look him up if you don’t know). Thanks to our friend Christina, we got to meet him and take photos for his basketball camp. Then later on because of our work, we were then given a chance to shoot for MLB player, Luke Gregerson from the San Deigo Padres, and also do another music video for some artists under the music label of the one and only Tajai from Souls of Mischief/ Heiroglyphics. Unfortunately however, we did not end up shooting for Luke Gregerson, and also had to turn down filming the music video. I’m still very grateful for the opportunity though. Another thing I am also very proud of was being able to work with Acrylick clothing company. During the summer, we were asked to cover one of the events hosted by Acrylick. This was their 1st Annual Freedom Ride; a race through parts of SGV. It was another great opportunity and another great learning experience (acrylick.net). It was honestly a VERY busy summer. All the while, we were also doing many photoshoots in between. I also happened to write my first short film during this time, which has yet to start shooting, but will soon…hopefully.
Later on, we also got to work with Axium Los Angeles, and took photos for their clothing line (www.axium.la) Also another thing we dabbled in, was shooting dance concept videos. We worked with one of our close friends Matt De Leon throughout the year, and also more recently Ted Shaw.
I might have missed a couple of things, because I was writing this quick, but it still doesn’t take away from the stuff we accomplished or the people who were apart of it. 2011, you have been very good to us. I hope that 2012 allows us to meet even more people, and bring in as many opportunities. I will end this by quoting Jay-z. “I’m not a businessman, I'm a business man!!!" Truly Blessed. ORI9INALNINE
