It has to go right this time
(( One of the very rare moments Dove cried. ;n; But you can't really blame him for having a moment considering everything that's happened ahaha. Oh man it hurts enough already thinking about it all and recently I've finally started mustering up courage to tell about my story to peeps, and then I ran into this song sung by Dove and Ace's voiceclaims and broke down crying myself. ;; Stupid fictional characters.
So for those interested, long detailed story short(ened):
Dove had a contract with Victorian Ace, as most will know. And they became so much more than just demon and contractee; they were practically like father and daughter and shared an extremely close bond. So when he failed to protect her and she was killed right before his eyes, he was devastated. She meant so much to him and changed him for the better and then he failed her... The last thing he could do was let her go and have her soul go to Heaven safely. Eventually he moved on, but he never did forget her.
Naturally he gets caught completely off-guard when more than a century later he runs into Ace's descendant, a reincarnation of her soul. He at first thinks this is some sick and cruel illusion made by an enemy, or his own mind going insane. The girl looks exactly like the Ace he once knew, behaves like her, has that same painfully familiar voice... and even the soul he would recognize anywhere any time. She answers to the same name even! But she doesn't remember him or in fact anything her Victorian ancestor experienced. This turn of events leaves him feeling bitter, his thoughts chaotic, until he tries blocking out all thoughts and simply becomes numb for a while.
He soon decides to introduce himself to her under his human guise as a well-known author named Albus Columbus and acts like he's interested in her daily and simple life. This way he can stay close and keep tabs on her while still remaining distant enough. While Ace doesn't really get why a famous and wealthy guy like him would show interest in a random homeless girl, she goes along with it and accepts his invitations and offers to do things. This all goes well for a while, although Ace starts getting more and more suspicious and starts asking more and more questions. As serious, distant and 'business-minded' as he tries to be around her, he seems to have other things on his mind and that worries her a little.
And then things unfold when it turns out that somehow the contract seal never completely broke when Victorian Ace died but crossed over. All this time it's been dormant, and Dove sticking so close to her reactivates it eventually, causing the girl to panic and forcing Dove to finally start explaining what the hell is going on and who he really is. While he fears she'll reject him because of him keeping everything from her for so long, she decides to give him a chance to show her his true self. After all they're basically bonded through a contract anyway, even if that wasn't either one's intention, and she's still curious about this all.
Although Dove starts to realize this girl isn't the little human girl who was once his daughter and he'll never have back the time he had with her, he still loves her and feels like he has to fix his mistake of the past by ensuring she's safe and even protecting her with his life if needed. And once they truly start opening up to each other, he finally breaks down crying.
So excuse me while I go lay down now and become a mess. OTL ))
