New Year 2022
Yeah, that's a biiigg leap from before right? I guess it's kind of a reflection of the stuff I HAVEN'T been posting here.. I've been growing a lot since then. It's kind of strange to reflect that this picture was made 3.. Going on 4 years ago from now. And I hadn't shared that side of myself to anyone here in a long time....
I'll try to make more of an effort now, but no direct promises! I want to show more sides of myself, and work slowly towards my ideal self. With my team of course~!
finally drew the made up pokemon guy who has been living rent-free in my head for weeks and weeks
anyway, this is the traveler! he is only barely relevant to the bw fic im working on and will be sort of relevant in bw2, but he also stars in his own legends-style historical lore fic that has been commanding my attention the last little while. i'll post the fic when i'm done with it but i wanted to share this here for now because i have brainworms about him

designwise, i had a fairly clear image of him in my head - the most beautiful man i could think of (to counteract how sad he is). grey hair and blue eyes were part of the design from the outset, but it took a bit to decide on the rest of his pallet. I tried to avoid using much black or white, and also making him look too much like Jill FinalFantasy16.
I also specifically tried to avoid making him look like any existing Pokemon character. Unlike the characters we've seen in Legends Arceus, who have clear design parallels to modern day characters and are implied to be direct predecessors/descendants, the traveler is not meant to be related to any present-day Pokemon characters. quite deliberately, in fact.
the little item tied to his belt is an inro, a traditional Japanese box that was used to carry small items before western clothes and their pockets made their way to Japan. the traveler did some journeying in Kanto and Johto, and I imagine he picked up an inro there as a practical souvenir. He uses his as a wallet, as it's normally beneath his cloak and out of pickpockets' reach.
Johto was also where he acquired the Poké Balls tied to his walking stick. His story takes place in a time before the Poké Ball had reached Unova, and Pokemon training had not yet been established there.
it's october 28 evening so there's still time to wish my angry oc aden happy birthday. I came up with him 17 years ago a couple days before getting the first ranger game. now he is his canon age. rooting for you to get everything you want in life, my son 🎉🍔🍕🍛 (it's more than food but mostly food)
