Species and major groups of Bright Blue Soul (part 1)
So, I've been rambling for a while about the many subspecies of humans in bright blue souls. So I made this list of all species I have currently developed for the universe. I do have a few other ideas, but those on that list are the ones I fleshed out. Also, this list doesn't contain only species. Crafsmasters, Starr group, and arguably the "Luck-stricken" aren't necessarily species so much as a group of individuals with common traits.
2 important terms to understand before going further, Demi-humans and power wielders. Demi-humans designate almost every species on this list other than humans. It's a generic term used to describe most human subspecies with innate anomalous abilities. Secondly, power wielders are anyone with enough power to be considered significant. Anyone can technically become a power wielder through training, technology, or anomalous effects and items.
On the list, you can also see tiers. The higher in the tiers, the stronger, on average, a member of that subspecies is. Tier 4, only being made of humans which don't have any inate powers, make 90% of the population. Tier 3 have basic powers, but still relatively weak compared to what comes next, they make ~9.5% of the population. Tier 2 are usually able to handle several tier 3 and usually necessitate the actions of military units to be stopped, as regular police are usually unable to deal with them. They make ~0.49% of the population. Tier 1 are several times more powerful than Tier 2. A lot of them could flatten an entire village by themselves and can provoke local catastrophes with their powers. They make up about ~0.01% of the population.
Now let us start with: Humans: lifespan: 80 years (125 with technology) Full physical maturity: ~25 years Daily calories: ~2000 cals Max reproduction rate: 1 per 9 months Specific Abilities: None Description: Humans, the most basic. Although humans do not have any innate powers, they can still acquire them through training or other means.
Luck-stricken: lifespan: 80 years (115 with technology) Full physical maturity: ~25 years Daily calories: dependant on ability, 2000 most of the time. Max reproduction rate: 1 per 9 months Abilities: Each one of them has a random ability. Description: Luck-stricken are complicated in the sense that no one knows whether to consider them human or demi-humans. That's because Luck-stricken can be born from 2 human parents. Each time a human is born, there is just a small chance that they acquire an ability and become a Luck-stricken. Hence the name, it's just random, and so are their powers. Most get useless power, like being able to condensate humidity. Some get weird powers, one of them could metabolize alcohol to give him super speed, but wasn't immune to intoxication, meaning he can go faster than a supercar, but ends up completely drunk. Some, however, did get useful powers like the hero "Atom Spark" who can cause nuclear fusion by a simple touch of anything with fewer protons than iron. However, Luck Stricken are usually weak with just their powers, as they only get a specific ability and no physical enhancement, meaning a gun or blade can kill them just as easily as a human in most cases.
Werebeasts: Lifespan: 100 years (130 with technology) Full physical maturity: ~25 years Daily calories: ~2500 cals Max reproduction rate: 1 per 1.5 years Abilities: Beast form, higher physical abilities. Description: for the most part, just like regular humans. But, they have the ability to transform into a beast form. Usually, those beast forms are of an animal, but humanoid with impressive physical abilities. While transformed, they obtain more strength, durability, speed etc... But, most of them also regress mentally. Most of them even need to be taught how to talk in their beast forms.
Espers: lifespan: 80 years (125 with technology) Full physical maturity: ~25 years Daily calories: ~3000 cals Max reproduction rate: 1 per 1.5 years Specific Abilities: telekinesis, minor reality warping Description: Mostly humans in most of their physical abilities. But, they are very prolific in telekinesis and minor space warping.
Noctisian: lifespan: 200 years Full physical maturity: ~30 years Daily calories: ~3000 cals Max reproduction rate: 1 per 3 years Specific Abilities: Shadow manipulation, Darkness manipulation, illusions, Shadow travel Description: Noctisians are essentially shadow people... literally. They can take human form, but can transform into a shadow. 2 types of shadows, one where their body is covered in darkness, giving them strength and powers, but they remain mostly human-looking, and the second type of shadow where they literally become a shadow. As in a 2D shadow on the ground. They possess the ability of shadow step, allowing them to teleport between zones of shadows if they are connected, incredible durability, and extreme speed. If in one of their shadow forms, they are also very vulnerable to bright lights which can force them out of their shadow form.
Craftsmasters: Craftsmasters are not a single species. Any species can be a Craftsmaster. Craftmasters are people able to manipulate anomalous energy and infuse it into objects. It's usually a talent acquired at birth. Most Craftsmasters only make basic objects like blades, but technically, they can create almost any sort of reality-warping and anomalous objects. The Adaptive sword (a sword that can adapt to any defensive technique), the hangman's cloak (a cloak that can empower the user by using souls as fuel.), and Mr. Peridge's watch (a watch that gives the user time manipulation abilites) are all objects created by Craftsmasters.
Part 2 tomorrow, questions welcomed :).
