Yapping About The Oopsie Timeline! (ft. My Headcanons!)
OK GUYS I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE OOPSIE FAMILY I AM NORMAL ABOUT THEM!! For those who don’t know/remember, Oopsie is Orion’s surname, along with his wife and their daughter Slapo!! The lore for their family is kinda scattered and all over the place but I’m gonna try to have it make sense with the help of Orion and Slapo’s wiki pages, my own headcanons, and general Miitopia worldbuilding!!
Starting off with worldbuilding, I imagine that most of Orion’s story happens in Greenhorne! Dan never says outright that it’s Greenhorne but. cmon now. It’s the first place we see Orion, there’s a kingdom and a royal guard, it’s the perfect area for a countryside to be, and Something mysteriously happened to the previous rulers and guard over the timeskip… almost like they were all attacked and overthrown by the Miiuppets… I’ll be getting back to that idea later.
The only problem with things taking place in Greenhorne is that Orion’s title doesn’t match up at first glance. Looking at the map of Miitopia, Greenhorne is in the South, while Orion is known to all as the “Nose of the North”. However, the areas in Miitopia seem to be bigger than what we explore in-game, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were Northern/Southern parts of Greenhorne. Plus I think Orion’s traveled quite a bit before joining the guard, so chances are he got that title in a northern part of Miitopia. Either one is a possibility!
I also believe Orion’s wife grew up in Peculia. This is because that’s where the Manor Macabre is located! Why am I bringing this up? Because I think Mrs. Oopsie’s side of the family used to own the mansion a while before the events of the main series took place. (Also Peculia’s in the north part of Miitopia. Dunno how much that really connects to Orion’s past but it’s important enough I think.) The main thing that’s got me thinking this is how in Slapo’s Travelers Hub mission, she says this as she’s giving Mar Bo the Bat Charm:
I doubt Orion’s genetics have any ties to vampire stuff, and we have very little info on Slapo’s mom, so I’m taking this info and running! As for how Orion met his wife? There’s a handful of ways it could’ve happened. Maybe they met when they were younger, maybe they met during their travels, who knows! What we DO know is that Orion makes quite a name for himself, likely from adventuring around Miitopia! That led to King GeeGee recognizing his skills and Orion joining their guard.
I know Slapo’s wiki page says that Orion joined the Royal Gaurd not too long before S2 starts, but I personally think he joined quite a while before S1 even began! This is getting more into a headcanon territory, but I think them moving more closer to the castle was a direct result of what happened in S1, with King GeeGee and PrinceEtce getting attacked by the Dark Lord with nobody really there to help them. The kingdom wanting more security meant that Orion had to work there more, leading to him and his family moving closer to the castle for convenience. Assuming that the area near the castle was far more populated than the countryside, it would make sense for it to have been such a huge change for Slapo in particular.
Unfortunately, it was shown to be the right move for the kingdom of Greenhorne to need more protection. Going back to the Miiuppets, I imagine that for whatever reason, they took over the kingdoms of Neksdor and Greenhorne by force, killing and replacing their rulers. They weren’t alone however, since I imagine they worked with the 2nd Genie of the Lamp to do this. After successfully overthrowing the rulers of Neksdor, Elmonster and GUN along with their army went for Greenhorne. This ends up with the kingdom needing more protection than ever before, which leads to Orion (along with Mrs. Oopsie) going to the castle… and Mrs. Oopsie getting caught in the crossfire </3
And then yknow. A while later S2 starts, Orion sets off for revenge (with a makeover from Slapo) just for the universe to do a little trolling with the 2nd Dark Lord attack and him joining Mar’s team, just to then be KIDNAPPED during the one time where we really get to see GUN in the actual series. oof. And ofc Slapo’s Side Adventures goes down alongside S2, yknow, the rest is history lol.
