Our path is full of petals. We look, and all that we can see is red.
And yet soon, together, we all will reach the stars!
~And our flowers will never fall again~!

You know, I expected people to call me wrong or evil for holding the beliefs I do. I would not blog about the things I do if I did not think they needed to be said. They would not need to be said if everyone already believed them.
I did not expect to be accused of being absurdly evil. I thought it rather obvious that red apologists were a minority, and that most nations would be perfectly content to follow Orvara’s example if they were certain they could do so without extreme expense or loss of life. If you’ve retreated so far into your online bubble that you believe such beliefs are at all unusual, then I suggest that you talk to other people more. It isn’t good to have such a profoundly skewed view of the world, and denial won’t help you to achieve your goals.
So it looks like one of three factions is going to win the Cabinet Head position in the Maniten Parliament. The newly renamed Reconciliation Party finally gained ground in last season’s election, after three disastrous seasons of backlash against their now-disgraced Cabinet Head, Rivor. As a faction, they have no stated position on the Orvara crisis, and I’d say they’re likely to appoint a Representative on Reds who won’t do anything drastic unless there is strong popular support for it, in which case they definitely will do lots of drastic things. The Union for Harmonious Parity is running very enthusiastic candidates this season, and they’ve been very effective in turning purple fears into demonstrations and rallies. If they win Cabinet Head, they will not fill the RoR position with anyone remotely likely to follow Orvara’s cues. Given that a lot of their rhetoric has been about safeguarding clean castes from reds, I don’t expect a UHP appointment to be especially progressive on red rights. Meanwhile, the normally sane Representative Consensus Faction has decided to imply admiration for Orvara while avoiding explicitly endorsing it, focusing instead on green credit reform and a series of vacuous “sensible tax breaks.” Many of the RCF faction members are actually moderate, but the leadership in Nite are in bed with the university and purist voting blocs. If they win, I expect them to fill the RoR position with a member of a smaller, crazier party who will lay the groundwork for the possibility that replacing Maniten reds becomes politically possible. Make your voice heard this election! The stakes are greater than they’ve been at any point in our lives.
OK I am seeing a lot of rumors flying around about the Orvara thing and what it means for purples. Ones I’ve seen a few times so far:
Lathande took poor purples who’d been forced to eat polluted food and promised them clean food for their families if they’d do this
Lathande is using this as an alternative sentence for purples who’ve been convicted of lower-level crimes
Alternatively, Lathande arrested some purples for crimes they didn’t commit and used this to coerce them or their families into doing this
A cop in Lathande attacked a purple doing red work and this was hushed up so as not to jeopardize the program.
The landlord of at least one of the purples has kicked them out of their apartment
I’m not in Lathande or even Orvara and don’t know anyone who is. Would anyone who is be able to confirm or deny any of this?
there isn't going to be a protest in my city but I'm planning to lobby against Asfat adopting this procedure, making sure my government doesn't leave all the reds in its borders to die is more important than my personal security.
You know what’s neat? You can buy real estate insurance on land you don’t actually own.
I don’t own any land near red districts. (Yes, it’s cheap, but it’s still overpriced.) But when this turns into riots I can make money off it anyway.
I just...I don’t know what to say about this mess in Orvara. I’ve been avoiding The Red Discourse like the plague for professional reasons but I can’t, I can’t, just sit here and say nothing like I think thousands of reds dead and purples polluted is okay.
what the FUCK
