Not related to anything at all but
I made an otoMAD (or YTPMV I guess, whatever you wanna call it) for CITY THE ANIMATION because I'd make otoMADs for fun as a teen/twentysomething, and CITY THE ANIMATION is a masterpiece, so uh, consider this my ad to tell people to watch it, 'kay bye

Title: Greenwich in the Spiral

Song: Greenwich in the sky(Touhou Maboroshi Soumatsu Ten 2 "Canon")
This time I review the video named Greenwich in the Spiral, which I posted on November 3, 2010. I was determined to make this video as high-quality as possible, so I went through numerous trials in both audio and visuals before finalizing it. Looking back at my upload frequency, I realize that I was making and posting videos within relatively short periods back then. I definitely didn't have unlimited time to work on them, yet I was young, full of energy and passion, and that helped me push through any challenges. Now, let's begin.
About the song
This is an arrangement by Jun.A of a song from Touhou Project: Magical Astronomy. Since it wasn't used in any of the games, it may not be widely recognized. However, it has a stylish and calm atmosphere that has earned it a dedicated fanbase. That said, the original version of this song is rarely used in music videos—most of them feature the Jun.A arrangement. This arrangement differs significantly from the original, with a much more intense composition. Although the BPM is only 120, making it not particularly fast, it feels very aggressive. By the way, the version I used in this video is the arranged one.
Features of this video
Since the song itself is powerful, I chose many lines with matching intensity. Interestingly, for the drum parts in the audio, I incorporated sound effects of various characters' weapons striking. Auron and Wakka's weapon impact sounds, in particular, worked perfectly as drum hits. Because I prioritized intensity, I didn't structure the video around FFX's storyline, but the lines synced well with the music, so I think this approach was the right choice. I was also able to include the line I most wanted to use at the end—"We are all bad guys, right?"—so overall, I'm quite satisfied. Many other music videos featuring this song used a version that was sped up to 1.4x the original tempo, likely to enhance the sense of speed. However, I chose to keep the original speed in my video. Adjusting the tempo made the song feel like something entirely different, which took away my motivation to work on it. When I rewatched this, I thought the large number of cutscenes might make it difficult to follow, but it wasn't as overwhelming as I had expected. Of course, that doesn't mean it was perfect—there was still plenty of room for improvement in terms of technical skills. This was also back when I was still using Vegas for editing, and I personally think it was one of the best videos I created with that software. In fact, out of all the videos I posted in 2010, I believe this one was the best.
My favorite scenes
0:00-0:07 The opening uses impactful lines to express strength and intensity.
0:39-0:43 Tidus: "Huh?"—I mixed in a small funny element within the powerful atmosphere.
2:47-3:24 I think the transition into the climax, leading to "We are all bad guys, right?", was cool. (Since the file size is large, only still an image is attached.)
That's all for now. Thank you for visiting. See you next time.
