nya. tomoe’s relationship with mikage is the most important bond he has. mikage was not only a father figure, but a savior, a chance for redemption, and a fresh start. 

tomoe spent hundreds of years with mikage as his familiar and the two developed an extremely close bond. to tomoe, mikage was all he had left in a world that had turned its back on him. a world where he’d forgotten love and lost his best friend.

mikage is the reason tomoe remained alive for so much longer than he should have. and it’s also the reason why his betrayal hurt so much. for twenty years, tomoe was alone. something mikage had promise he would never be.

it placed a tear in their relationship that tomoe wasn’t so easy to forgive and forget. however, mikage means too much to him to sacrifice everything for what (in his mind) is such a short period of time. however, it did leave him with abandonment issues (as seen in the beginning of kamisama).

but all in all, mikage is the most important person in tomoe’s life. even more so than nanami. because while nanami means so much to him, mikage has been a constant source of comfort and support and is someone tomoe can really be free with himself around. / ( answered for @otomegami )

hc + akura-ou

nya. i’m going to answer this as a follow up to my previous headcanon.

like i had said, akura ou was family to tomoe––––a best friend and the only companionship he felt he needed in the world. not to say that they didn’t disagree on many things–––tomoe was never as partial to senseless violence as akura ou was––––but their diverging interests never disrupted their friendship.

tomoe was the only one who could ever stand up to akura ou, berate him for mistakes, etc. and vise versa. the two were practically inseperable, excepting some of akura ou’s military ventures into the human realm. tomoe never took as much interest in humans as akura ou did, though he did enjoy the company of human women.

the two would share their spoils–––in nearly every sense of the meaning. women, treasure, glory…though not all of it made it to the end. 

even after the death of yukiji and tomoe imprisoning akura ou’s body in flames, he never truly hated the other. a lot of his anger was a front to distance himself from his past––––and make himself feel better about the position he was in now. tomoe was fully aware that his situation was unique, though he wished many times that he could once again share a drink with his closest friend.

even after meeting mikage, nanami, mizuki, and the others––––his mindset never really changed as regarding akura ou as his closest friend. / ( answered for @otomegami )
