Dealing with Otto was one of life’s less pleasurable experiences, a matter of delicate diplomacy, but there was necessity in it. Otto’s friends liked his product, and Otto liked to have fun, and when they had enough of both, they liked to spend money. Like a spoiled child, Buch needed to be doted on— if he wasn’t enjoying himself enough, he abandoned the project petulantly. It was an outcome that often had Enzo questioning whether or not it was working, but the margins were good and the system was working. Money never lied. Watching the fight from where he stood, he watched with a careful eye at the fight unfurling in the centre of the old stone room, paying half-attention until Otto arrived. He lorded over fight club, nodding at one his lesser cronies to hand over a neat bundle of pre-portioned goods— he didn’t even like touching his own product anymore. “I think your friends might like this— it’s something new. Let me know what all the side-effects are, I skimped on a full trial. There’s more than enough lab rats here tonight.”
