I am a solitary outer court wiccan. While I thought this was fine, the more resources I try to find on it the more outer court wiccan bashing I find. My question is, besides the cultural appropriation which I ENTIRELY agree with, do you believe in hating on outer court wiccans? What makes them oh so horrible?
No, there's nothing inherently wrong with outer court wicca or being outer court wiccan. However outer court wiccans are most often culturally appropriative to fill in the gaps that are present in published work on wicca. Which i think a lot of people dislike, and rightfully so.

Just had my second outer court session. I met the only other individual studying in outer court finally as well. He's cool. Reminds me of a close friend. Because he has less experience than me (and also because he's a whole separate person, lol) he had questions that I didn't or that I was willing to wait for. During the discussions the topic of the difference between wicca and witchcraft and what is traditional witchcraft came up. I was surprised by our high priestesses answer actually. I mean our tradition is Traditional Witchcraft according to all the "experts." Meaning others beyond themselves name this group and its elders as such; and not just in New York. But she doesn't see the big difference between us and wicca or non-traditional witchcraft. There are some obvious ones but that doesn't make them less equal or valid. Which was not the point. I expected her to say things like we don't follow the wiccan rede, we are initiatory, etc, etc. Not so, she basically said it doesn't matter. I wanted to jump for joy. One thing I worried about was a form of elitism and I am totally not getting that. And yet still I do get a totally different perspective on witchcraft that only this coven would have. So this is going good. This guy Chris specifically brought up websites and blogs (since he's new most of his knowledge comes from the internet) that I have seen and to be honest some of you can be assholes on here. Many people have gotten hurt and in defense or offense build their own little communities with rules and beliefs to protect themselves from those who callously don't agree with them. Our major example was traditionalwitch.net. I immediately remembered that site when he mentioned it because their intro/about us is so defensive and obviously a bid for a safe space at any costs. My high priestess was off put by the site since, I guess, she's more inclusive and has not had problems with people of other traditions and paths. We talked about that for awhile and I gotta say its nice after the all the drama I left behind two years ago. All and all a good time was had by all. Can't wait 'til next time.
