Outlander 31 Day Challenge: Day 10

Welcome to the Outlander 31 Day Challenge!

Today is Day 10: Favorite animal

As much as I love Adso, and Rollo, and the White Sow...

I've always thought it fascinating that Colum MacKenzie keeps birds.

The birds are a metaphor for Colum himself - beautiful, and intelligent, and trapped in a gilded cage.

it’s been the same from the very beginning

Such a natural progression - from protection in a specific situation, to keeping her safe always. All underpinned by profound love. For even the strongest woman needs to be sheltered, and comforted, and soothed.

You need not be scared of me, or of anyone else here. So long as I’m with you.

Rest now. No one will harm you. I’m here.

I promise - whatever happens, you’ll never be alone again.

01x02 Re-watch

Decided to re-watch 01x02 "Castle Leoch" tonight. Oh, Jamie and Claire - you two have no idea what lies in store for you. Hard to believe that only about a year (?) has passed between this scene and where we currently are in the series. Anyway. One stray thought - as soon as the men arrive at the castle, they quickly hustle inside, out of the muddy couetyard - at Mrs. Fitz ' s recommendation. Not Jamie. He stays right behind Claire the whole time, fiddling with his bags and the straps of his saddle. Keeping himseld busy, reluctant to leave her. Standing with her, introducing her to Mrs. Fitz. Already protecting her, craving closeness with her. Keeping her safe. They have known each other for less than two days - and already he's lost.

Day 2 - 01x02 “Castle Leoch”

The 16 Days of Outlander continues…

Something I really enjoyed in this episode was very subtle - but spoke volumes. I’ve discussed it before, but it’s always fun to bring it back into the rotation.

Ever notice how - in the “girl with spirit” scene, where Claire (adorably) brings Jamie lunch - they’re wearing essentially the same clothes?

Claire wears a brown top, punctuated by a white front, along with a gray/blue skirt:

Jamie wears a white shirt, brown waistcoat, and his blue/gray MacKenzie tartan:

Subtle hints that they’re already in sync…two already becoming one…
