Saw a thing about Kirsten Dunst dissing on the Spiderman reboots. Not just calling it a money grab, but outright stating that ‘ours’ (the original trilogy) was the best. 

Sounds like SOMEONE’S a little salty about being pushed out of the iconic superhero girlfriend limelight. lol

(of all the versions’ love interests, Kirsten Dunst was my least favorite. And I think she knoooooooooows that the other movies got better wriiiiiiiiiiters for a less 2-dimensional damsel in distress love interest lmao XD )

Well we WERE going to go see Atomic Blonde after dinner, but five minutes into the movie, a transformer blew at the theater. 

A few minutes after the power flickered, were were told everything had to reboot, and it would be about 15 minutes until the movie restarted. Fine. Communication between staff was shoddy, as 3 separate people came in to tell us the same thing.

A few minutes after THAT, a very bossy rent-a-cop theater security woman came in and told us we were evacuating the theater. 

We go out, and there’s already a pair of firetrucks outside. Then a 3rd, a National Grid truck, and a cop SUV. The truck ladder goes up, and two firefighters disappear onto the roof. Two ambulances and a second cop car show up. 

By that point, the same theater security lady had started the mess of handing out paper readmittance vouchers, with no semblance of an orderly line anywhere in sight. Thankfully, we were close to her, and were able to beat a reasonable hasty retreat. 

We considered walking the mall, which is unattached to the theater, but apparently the transformer of the theater is part of the electric system of the mall, and the mall was also evacuated and shut down. 

The only perk of the evening is there was an AMAZING Wonder Woman taking pictures with patrons of the Red Robin we went to beforehand for dinner. (for a few dollars charitable donation) She was SO tall and Amazon perfection. <3

Game of Thrones rant ahead. Some spoilers ahead, IF you have not seen to the end of Season 6 (last season, pertaining to Bran’s visions of his father, and the popular fan theory of Jon Snow’s origin) 

Unpopular Opinion Time:

I don’t like Daenerys Targaryen. 

Oh my god... this got so long. Go see it under the cut if you really wanna see me rant about this shit. 

The Targaryens were conquerors. Well guess what? They got overthrown. It happens. They made a point of staying ABOVE their subjects, of taking an exceptional pride in their heritage from Valeria. They inbred like crazy to keep their blood “pure” instead of doing more marrying among the Great Houses of Westeros to secure their place as actual citizens of the land they ruled. The rule of the Seven Kingdoms has been returned to their native people. It took 300 years, but the invaders were cast back out. 

Daenerys, in my opinion, is her father’s daughter. Mad. It’s a quieter madness, an obsessive sense of entitlement to a birthright that was taken from her. Literally NOTHING will be good enough until she takes the Iron Throne. She was a Queen in Mereen, but that wasn’t good enough. She could have gone on to build a flourishing kingdom there, completely rewriting the rules of society to whatever ideal she pleased. Nobody gonna argue with the Mother of Dragons and Breaker of Chains. A decade or so, and the cities of Slaver’s Bay would be completely revamped.

But noooooooooo, even KNOWING what a hierarchical clusterfuck Westeros is, with its Seven Kingdoms and endless pissing contests between the great houses, she HAS TO reclaim her “birthright”. And she has NO problem doing whatever it takes to get what she wants. She tries to be reasonable to make herself a more likeable ruler, but she has no problem burning people alive, nailing them to stakes along the road, and feeding them to her dragons if they displease or threaten her. She does this with almost no regret or hesitation. She’s not much better than Cersei, when it comes to killing people that get in her way.

The Targaryen line was fading long before she was born. The dragons died off in captivity, inbreeding and infighting reduced the bloodline to a handful of genetically questionable rulers holding onto control and sanity by a thread. What if the dragons falter again? Captivity doesn’t suit them, and Dany isn’t going to make any friends by allowing them to pillage the land to sustain them as they see fit.

ALSO, there is the matter of her suitability to be queen on the basis of her infertility. The witch that “helped” Drago told her when he died that he wouldn’t return to Dany until her womb bore a living child (also until mountains blow away in the wind, and the seas go dry, etc etc something like that). And, barring some super fancy magic shit we haven’t seen YET in the GoT world yet, that’s not gonna happen. So she’s effectively infertile. She cannot produce an heir to the throne she’s so damn desperate to reclaim. One more generation of Targaryen rule, then the Seven Kingdoms would be right back where they were before she showed up. And she’s damn well aware that inheritance is a huge part of maintaining power. She could name a non-blood heir, but it would be highly contested, at best. (including Jon Snow, who, as a bastard, has no LEGITIMATE claim, and an extremely slim chance of being able to PROVE beyond all doubt that he even IS a Targaryen heir)

Now, I will give her credit. She’s badass, I can see the appeal. She’s been through some serious shit and come out on top and in charge. But her driving force as a character is STILL what was drilled into her as a child. That she’s entitled to the Iron Throne because she’s a Targaryen. In this aspect, she has either grown in a bad way, or not at all. This was so ingrained into her that she cannot fathom wanting anything else, so she hasn’t expanded her self-worth beyond what she was trained to want. She has gained all of these titles, but the one that was taken from her insane father is still the most important to her. Not the ones she has EARNED through her own actions, but the ones that she inherited from the last of an inbred, failing dynasty.

IF she manages to reclaim the throne, AND turn back the Army of the Dead, I think it will not take her long at all to find it a hollow victory. A thankless job, fixing the complete MESS the warring of the Great Houses has made in the last few years since the death of Robert Baratheon. Her rule would quickly become tyrannical, dissent of any kind being met with incredibly harsh punishments. Her dragons would wreak havoc on the land, or be doomed to miserable captivity, as they were in Mereen. After years of conquering, of having a goal so grand, Daenerys would go mad on the Iron Throne. Legitimately mad, like her father. Paranoia of losing what she had won would have her jumping at shadows and suspecting and mistrusting everyone around her. I just don’t see a “happily ever after” sort of ending for the daughter of the Mad King.

Another Agents of SHIELD post: 

I love love LOVE that Aida’s Framework balances itself out. On the one hand, we have Fitz, a kind man made cruel. And on the other... we have Ward, a cruel man made kind. 

And seeing what Ward could have been is almost as cruel as seeing Fitz warped into something even worse than what real-world Ward was.
