Mini giv/eaway time! Below are three buttons that I made today (I had limited supplies so they're not too superb or anything) and I would like to give them away! Unfortunately, I'm only able to mail to people in the United States so if you're in a different country or continent, sorry! If you would like one of these buttons, reblog this post! I will randomly pick three winners, and message each winner. If you don't have messaging or asks or even submits turned on, I will redraw for that winner. So check and double check. Oh my god. Remember when I made that post about sending you guys RA quotes? I made a follow-up post after it like less than a day later saying I'd cut it off after a certain amount of notes, and I just realized - It never posted. I'll try and send a quote to the people who have already noted it (that is, if you have your ask box open - a lot of people didn't) but I'm definitely cutting it off from where it is now if not before then. So sorry! I just don't want this post to keep spreading for too long.

Actually can we talk about how awkward halt and will's relationship must have been at the beginning

omg yes we can. will has always been so scared of halt, as said in ruins of gorlan, and legitimately thought he practiced wizardry or something like that I think??? imagine halt learning cheap magic tricks and doing them at random times to make will even worse (and he gives halt a horrified look EVERY TIME) and during training sometimes there are really long moments of AWKWARD SILENCE when Will runs out of questions to ask so Halt will tell a story or something and they'll each respond with like "yeah." "mhm." "oh nice." and it's just s o a w k w a r d

Doodled a thing based off of handwritingofgod 's post about what happened if/when Will got sick during his apprenticeship! 

 Basically he woke up one morning and had a fever but ignored it and got dressed and ready for training, they were ready to set off when Halt noticed how much his apprentice was sweating and looked at him then took him back inside and poured him a cup of coffee, which Will didn't touch at first despite his love for it because he's "fine, Halt. Today's focus is tracking, isn't it?" and he's never missed a practice before.

Halt cancels the training for the day and starts stressing out and tries to make rabbit stew but fails miserably (so Will took it upon himself to learn how to cook rabbit stew properly afterwards).

The day is spent talking and getting to know each other a little better. At one point Halt pulls out a few maps to try and better Will's knowledge of geography, but neither of them are actually interested.

Riding Home: Chapter 1

AN: I’m sorry this chapter is so short. The next ones will definitely be longer once I get a better feel for the writing. I would also love any feedback you all have.

It was a small gathering of people inside the throne room, one that might've seemed a little too small given the dire matter that was about to be discussed. Will stood between Horace and Halt facing King Duncan with his arms at his back, casting a look over towards Gilan and Crowley who stood a little to the side. Additionally, Evanlyn stood at Duncan's right side at the bottom of the steps leading up to the throne, along with another unfamiliar face who remained silent at the opposite edge of the room.

Will peered over towards Gilan with a look of mild surprise, which was returned with a wink in the younger Ranger's direction before Gilan looked back forward. Will followed his gaze and watched as Duncan stood from the throne and stepped forward to the top of the steps and into the torchlight, his gaze sweeping over those gathered.

"You all must be wondering why I've summoned you here today."

Halt and Crowley exchanged a look while Horace and Gilan nodded forward.

"As a few of you may be aware already, there is a growing problem in the north. While Ranger Treaty -" He nodded in Will's direction. "-and a few brave others drove the Scotti out of Norgate Fief and back to Picta only a couple of years ago, they have already gathered forces and have been pushing south. They have taken Castle Macindaw."

There was a small intake of breath from everyone gathered, and Horace gave Will an incredulous look. Will shrugged helplessly back before looking up once more, brow knitted in worry.

"While the forces were quite strong last time, more clans have joined their ranks - and they have tripled in size and strength. They are truly a force to be reckoned with. And while the Norgate army has been more active than they used to be, they have grown too relaxed. Castle Norgate was still under their control when we last received a report from, but it's been a while." The King paused as his gaze swept over the room once more. "I will be sending additonal forces from Araluen Fief up north, but we cannot spare many given our position. Also, the Caraway army has been growing in size and will be helping to push the Scotti back - and hopefully this time for good. However, I want you four to ride out in advance and concentrate your efforts on slowing the Scotti down."

Will's eyebrow shot up, and he looked around at the others. There were five gathered in front of the throne, which meant that one of them wouldn't be a part of the mission.

As if sensing Will's unspoken question, Crowley murmured sidelong to the others, "I've got to stay and look after things, of course." Gilan and Halt nodded in agreement. Evanlyn shifted uncomfortably at the edge of the stairs and narrowed her eyes at the wall to her right.

The King dipped his head and looked forward again. "I want you all to leave as soon as you're rested; take tonight to prepare, because you're going to have a long journey ahead. You're all dismissed, unless there are any questions?"

There was a long, silent pause as everyone waited awkwardly in the room. None of them had any.

Duncan waved a hand in a dismissive gesture. "Go, then - rest and prepare. You'll all be provided with castle chambers to stay in tonight," he said. Horace exhaled but stayed where he was, only moving after Gilan started from the room. The others filtered out more slowly, with Evanlyn close behind, leaving only Duncan and the stranger in the room. As the guards outside closed the doors behind them, Will caught a final glimpse of the two engaged in deep conversation, and then the sight was gone.

Evanlyn quickened her pace and approached Will before tugging gently at the sleeve of his tunic. "Will," she said.

He looked ahead where Halt and Crowley were talking, joined by Gilan and Horace who followed closer behind, then stopped and turned to Evanlyn with a barely audible sigh. "Cassandra," he replied nervously. He would never get used to calling her that.

She glanced  back to the guards at the door, and then back to Will with a sly smile. "Better start calling me Evanlyn again," she said. "But I'm sure that won't be a problem for you."

Will eyed her with a befuddled look on his face. "Why?"

Evanlyn rolled her eyes. "Because I'm coming with you, obviously." Without waiting for a response from him, she continued, "I already have everything packed, since I knew about this before you arrived. I'll come with you when you leave, and-"

"Whoa, slow down," Will interrupted. "Your father didn't say anything about you going along. It's dangerous."

"Has that ever stopped me?" she said. "And besides, he doesn't have to find out." Her smile spread into a grin.

"Evanlyn..." he protested weakly. "It's...going to be a war. If something happens to you, I won't be able to forgive myself. And neither will the King."

Evanlyn sighed lightly. "I was in the war in Skandia, wasn't I? I went with you to Arrida too, and I'm still here." Though she still tried to find a way to argue, her voice had grown smaller. It was clear she was losing this battle.

Will turned a bit more and pulled Evanlyn into a swift embrace that lasted only a second or two before he let go again. "I know," he said. "But you're also needed here. What if something else happens while we're gone?"

"You're right, of course," she murmured. "Just come back alive, okay?"

Will grinned back at her. "I always do," he said. He nodded down the corridor where the others had just rounded a corner. "Best say your goodbyes to Horace. I'm sure he'll be missing you when we're gone."

Evanlyn blinked. "He...yes, of course,” she murmured.

She offered a return smile, then turned on her heel and began moving down the hall with Will following close behind, but neither of them said any more to one another. The silence hung between them rather awkwardly, and Will felt slightly relieved as he finally caught up with the others, walking on ahead with Gilan, Halt, and Crowley while Evanlyn hung back to talk with Horace.

It was going to be a sleepless night, Will knew - as most nights were before missions, unless he was bogged down by exhaustion. He just hoped that the times ahead wouldn’t be as rough as he anticipated, and that everyone really would come riding home when it was all over.

Hey so I've noticed a lot of you guys (aka the people I call the Ranger Gang) on here have roleplay (if thats what you guys are doing either way its funny and in character so even if its not considered roleplay its great) and was wondering, if I or anyone else want to join in, is it a thing you guys did as a group or was it more "Oh hey, cool, another fan of Ranger's Apprentice!"?

Anyone can join in! Literally all you have to do is make a character blog and start posting! ( Not that you have to do this, but it’d be really nice if we had an Evanlyn blog! )
