Carveliers and supporters of the Old Vic, here’s your chance to help a good cause!
Bertie (also now one of the Old Vic’s bicentenary ambassadors) will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for the theatre. And you can do your bit, too, by donating via the link above.
Here’s a message from the man himself:
‘The Old Vic celebrates its 200th birthday this year. It connects the grandeur and heritage of the West End with the cultural edge of the subsidised sector; but what many people don’t realise is that it belongs to neither: it is a not-for-profit organisation and receives no public money. It belongs to everyone. So when the team asked me to run the London Marathon for them, how could I refuse?
Matthew Warchus’ mission since taking over as Artistic Director has been to reconnect this unique theatre with the communities which surround it and to make what was once a rowdy music hall thrum with the rhythm of real life and real people.
Please support this exciting work by sponsoring me. Your donation will not only spur me on throughout my training and on the big day, but will help raise vital funds to ensure the future of this important and iconic artistic powerhouse for another 200 years.’
