[TRANS] KStyle - FTISLAND’s “Paradise” is indeed in lives! The biggest happiness is when they can see fans’ smiles... it energizes them, and gives them the power to perform.
Here too, I’m only going to translate parts that haven’t been published in interviews that I have translated previously. ;)
They were talking about Jaejin who hurt his right eye during the filming of the Paradise MV that he had to cover it with his bang. (see rankingbox interview)
-- Ah, Jaejin is in SBS drama “Sister is Alive” right now, right? The drama filming is still ongoing now?
Jaejin: Yes, it is. It will continue until autumn. (ps: it was just confirmed that it will be extended to 4 episodes due to its popularity. ;))
-- It seems like Jaejin is in need of a “paradise” as he is tired lately, please tell us “paradise” that you have experienced in private.
Seunghyun: My grandma lives near the sea, so, when I’m stressed, I would go to her house and see the sea. That is my paradise. Since Paradise is a song that gives us the image of the sea, from now on, everytime I go there, I would listen to Paradise then. (laughs)
Minhwan: For me too, its the sea. Hawaii. Was it 2 years go? Last year? I went to Hawaii with Hongki and Jaejin, with some other friends. It was so much fun! That time, Hongki and I went to try skydive, it was so fun, its paradise. The day before that, I got so scared that I couldn’t sleep. I searched up Youtube videos of people flying to have some mental training. (laughs) But when I actually tried it, it felt like I was lying on the sky, it was so comfortable.
Hongki: Oh, it was the best! I wasn’t scared at all!
-- What about Jaejin?
Jaejin: Its scary for me, so its a pass for me. (laughs) But, for me too, Hawaii is paradise. I can never forget it~ Its easy to drive in America and Korea, because people drive on the same side of the road, the right side. Minhwan and I took an international driving license together and we drove together there. The weather is nice there, when its night, its not hot. Its a nice feeling.
Hongki: But, Hawaii cockroaches! They’re amazing!
Jaejin: Indeed. But I wanna go there again. Next time, I wanna go surfing.
Jonghoon: My paradise is golf. When we’re in nature, its really nice to be able to breathe in the fresh air. It’s been about a year and a half (that he plays golf), I like nature, and I like sports. So it fits. (laughs) My score is 80 so its about in the middle. In Japan too, I’ve been to the Shinto shrine. I wanna go to a course in Japan too.
Hongki: For me, its the girls!
-- Hongki, let’s have a bit of image control here, shall we?
Hongki: That won’t do! Like girls’ nice smell and more, isn’t it natural for men to be attracted to things that can’t be found in men?
-- Leader Jonghoon, is that okay, can you approve it?
Jonghoon: It’s okay, it is impossible to stop Hongki. (laughs)
-- In Korea this year, you have released your 10th anniversary album, Over 10 Years. In the album, the song Champagne that was composed by Hongki and released previously in United Shadows in April, is also included.
Hongki: Yes, because its a song that I like, I want everyone to listen to it. Since there is world tour coming up in October, I recorded it in the Korean album too in English so everyone around the world can also enjoy it.
-- In Korea, aren’t you guys starting to do the youth self-production era, that you have been releasing only hard rock songs? So it was surprising to see that Over 10 Years is packes with various genres, including Champagne.
Hongki: About that, everyone was actually also saying the same thing, it’s really strange. (laughs) Because this is our 10the anniversary album that it contains various genres. In Japan, we have the image of “rock”, but in Korea, we have the image of “rock ballad”. That’s why, from the melody, we are trying to present rock ballad. We thought about mixing our colors in the past 10 years with our sound that is growing now. We arranged it this way on purpose.
-- I see. That’s why you also did a self-cover of Love Sick that you sang 10 years ago. The appearance of the song was unexpected.
Hongki: Because it is our debut song, we tried to do a self-cover of the song, as a surprise. It is a song that became a hit when we debuted, and a song that is remembered by a lot of people. When the self-cover was out, it went popular and it even in the no.1 of the karaoke chart for a while. However, it turned out that the song gained more popularity than our title track, “Wind” and there are people who even think that we made a comeback with that song.
-- To think about it, Love Sick is not a song suitable to be sung by 17-year old high school students.(laughs)
Hongki: Indeed. It is rather a mature song (laughs). It might be good to sing it now. But, I think that I sing better and better as I live my life. My color and emotion has become deeper, I feel like I’m different from the me from 10 years ago. So I think in 10 years, I will change again. I think I will become better.
-- To promote Wind from Over 10 Years, you did tv broadcast for a while. How was it?
Hongki: Yes, it was serious, so early in the morning (laughs).

On June 7th, 2007, teenage boy band FTISLAND appeared in the K-Pop scene like a comet. With their debut song ‘Love Sick,’ they won #1 on a network music program just 55 days after debut, ranked #1 on weekly music charts for 8 weeks, and took home all of the rookie awards of that year.

■ Recommendation | Hidden Classics As Recommended By FTISLAND
1. PRAY / FTISLAND - I WILL
It’s meaningful because it’s the title song of FTISLAND’s first album only with self-composed songs, and it’s about their worldly troubles at the time.
2. Even If It’s Not Necessary (꼭은 아니더라도) / FTISLAND - Cross & Change
Love the lyrics. Love it’s message that I won’t rush towards you but wait because you would remember me at least once.
3. Meeting (마중) / FTISLAND - The Refreshment
It’s a really great song. Rather than rushing to love, the song is filled with emotions from the old days. You can feel the beauty of waiting as you hear about waiting and falling in love on your own.
4. I Even Lost A Friend (친구마저 잃었다) / FTISLAND - GROWN-UP
I could really relate to this song when I went through my first one-sided love. If I listen to it now, I remember how young and innocent I was at the time. I laugh and think about how cute that was. But at the time, I found comfort through this song.
5. Memory / FTISLAND - THANKS TO
This was our first self-composed song to promote on air. But our promotion period was short and we had many regrets about the album. So we definitely want you to listen to it again!
6. Take Me Now / FTISLAND - FTISLAND 6th ALBUM [Where`s the truth?]
‘Take Me Now’ is the title song of our second all self-composed official album ‘Where’s The Truth?’ It’s strong sounds stand out to the point that the music video was shot in fire. It’s an awesome song that lets you heat up your already hot summer.
7. Don’t Love (사랑하지 마요) / FTISLAND - Colorful Sensibility
All of our ballad songs have really sad lyrics. This is one of the saddest. It’s one of the best songs that described the sadness after a breakup. If you are sad after a breakup, I hope you listen to this song and let out all of your sadness.
8. Lose / FTISLAND - FTISLAND 6th ALBUM [Where`s the truth?]
It’s one of the songs that our fans really like. It makes an amazing sound with strings and shouting. If you haven’t heard it yet, we want to recommend it to you.
9. Black Chocolate / FTISLAND - I WILL
It’s my first self-composed song that came out the way I wanted it to. It’s especially meaningful because it was included in our first self-composed official album. It’s a good song. Please listen to it!
10. To The Light / FTISLAND - I WILL
For those who want to listen a song that’s like a novel, we recommend ‘To The Light!’ From the clock sound in the intro, you will be able to meet a dreamy FTISLAND that you couldn’t find in other songs! Please pay a close attention to the lyrics!

Exclusive interview with Elizaveta Ilijana, the heroine of FTISLAND’s new release “WIND”.
June 7, the popular Korean band, FTIsland, released the 10th anniversary album “OVER 10 YEARS”. The main track of album is “WIND”. This sensual song was decorated with a beautiful MV which was made by David Jongkwon Kim. We have already seen his work with the band last year ("Take Me Now"), that’s why there was no doubt that the video would be really great!
Pleasant surprise for Russian Primadonna was the participation in the MV of the Russian model, beautiful woman, Elizaveta Ilijana. We were able to find her and had a nice talk. And after that she agreed to be interviewed special for russian fanbase We ❤ FTISLAND and answer all our questions!~
Q.: Liza, MV is amazing…you’re very beautiful! Tell us about yourself, please. How did it happen that you became the main character of the video?
Liza: I’ve been working as a model about a year. This is my second trip to Seoul, before that I was in Tokyo. To be honest, I don't know myself how it turned out that I worked for the MV of this band. There wasn't even a casting for this work. One day they just told me: "Liza, you're shooting for a video of a Korean band"
Q.: Wow! Very interesting ~ I would say that it’s a real gift of fate :) What do you think about our boys? Were you able to communicate with them? Tell us about the members ... your feelings.
Liza: I wouldn’t say that it’s some gift of fate or something else :) I think of such projects just a job. Well...guys are quite communicative. I was talking more with those who could speak a little bit English. Minhwan and Seunghyun have a good level of spoken language! In general, we communicated with everyone, because we worked together all day. Sometimes the director helped us to understand each other. But it seemed that the guys were nervous because of me :) At first, they avoided me, and then everybody relaxed. The frontman of the group also speaks English, but the first part of the shooting he looked very tired and didn’t leave the make-up room. But later the members woke him up.
Q.: Oh...I see. Hongki and the whole band have a really busy schedule now.
Liza: They started to play something to defuse the situation! Generally, they are very friendly with each other ... well, I thought so ...
Q.: This is true actually. They've been working and playing together from an early age. And at the beginning of his career, they've even lived together several years. Liza, tell us more about the shooting? Were there any funny situations or maybe happened something dangerous?
Liza: One of the funny situations was a scene with the guy with green hair (Minhwan). He was very embarrassed to put his head on my chest. The poor boy turned red. Everyone laughed at him very much and constantly joked.
Q.: Aah ... Minhwan! Well, judging by the frame, everything turned out! It looks very gentle ... By the way, JongHoon is a real ladies' man among them :)
Liza: I felt it. He behaves in a ladies' man style :) By the way, he also knows English, quite a bit. Each of them came up to me and asked whether I want something. They are very attentive.
Q.: Recently in the broadcast JongHoon ... almost in pure Russian said "Hello, my name is JongHoon!" Did you teach them Russian words? Did they ask you about it? Were they interested in Russia?
Liza: They constantly laughed and said "spasibo", "privet" and so on. They treat Russia well. I didn't notice any negative towards Russia.
Q.: We are waiting for them in Moscow. We are looking forward to the concert :)
Liza: Is this real? :) Well, I think if they have a large number of fans in the CIS countries, then why not come.
Q.: Yeah! We do everything possible to make FT Island come to Russia :) What about you, do you interesting in k-pop culture or it is something new for you?
Liza: I can’t say that this is something new for me. I know how the Koreans themselves relate to their music. I've always been impressed that they are really very proud of their music and idols. But, I never immersed myself in it :)
Q.: I can't tell you for all the Korean artists, but I assure you in a quality of FTIsland's music. They are unique and different from all ... they have a heavy and mature sound.
Liza: I agree with you. They are already grown-up men and skilled musicians. Their music is perceived in a different way from k-pop world.
Q.: Maybe there is something else you’d like to share with us?
Liza: There was a very calm work atmosphere. Sometimes there were big breaks, and someone went off to eat or just slept in the make-up room :) Every in a shooting crew was attentive to me. There were no incidents, everybody was constantly laughing. If something unexpected happened, members joked and continued to work. Some of them played the guitar. The atmosphere was very pleasant! And also…we had vans which we lived in.
Q.: Really very cool! It seems the atmosphere was really nice :)Thank you for conversation! Sincerely I wish you great success in your very interesting work!
Your music continues to be a source of strength, joy and comfort to many, and your existence a source of community. Your hard work and passion is an inspiration to us all.
To my Primadonna family, we’ve been through a lot together. Because of the nature of the industry, it isn’t always easy being a fan of FT. But we’ve made it to 10 years.
Remember to remain strong, kind, and level-headed. Respect those around you, respect the boys’ privacy and respect each other. You need not agree with everything and everyone to be a fan, remember this.
