Chloe had been sitting at one of the tables on the Blackwell Campus with Kate, just chatting about random stuff while she waited on Max’s class to finish up for the day. She knew Kate was religious, which was the complete opposite from her, but the girl was extremely nice and gentle. How anyone could ever think of hurting or upsetting her was beyond her.

She frowned at what Kate said about not being allowed to say ‘Hell’ because of Catholic School which made her let out a disbelieving scoff. “That must suck… I say ‘hell’ all the time!” She admitted with a small shrug of her shoulders.

 A sheer feeling of relief came over Max. It had only been a few hours since the storm had past through Arcadia Bay, and to find Kate Marsh was a miracle to see.    ❛ I can only hope so, and I hope it’s the last time we ever see anything like it. I’m glad you’re safe at least. How the he— heck did you manage to escape the storm ?  ❜

There was a small smile as she watched Kate go about her work. Seeing how focused she was; how content and peaceful she seemed... It made fulfilling that sudden request for drawing materials worthwhile. The art was childish, but in the sense that it was pure, endearing, and cute. And, most importantly of all, the adorable creatures and environments that danced across the pages were the result of Kate’s passion. Nothing could ever take that away from her, not even a tornado from hell.

Lara was accustomed to admiring from afar, so, when the younger girl turned to show her appreciation, she found herself pausing like a deer in headlights, if only for a moment. Her previous smile widened ever-so-slightly as Kate’s word finally settled in, one hand rising to clasp that jade pendant about her neck. Any friendliness at all would be welcomed in the wake of a disaster, the archaeologist figured, and so she didn’t even bother questioning the affirmation, “And I’m glad to hear that. Thank you...”

Rachel’s eyes flickered over, a small smile curling at her lips. She titled her head to the side, hazel eyes brightening up at that small comment. “I’m pretty sure I’d give you diabetes.” She joked, leaning in a tad as she spoke. “I figured you’d like them. White roses are kind cliche but..” She shrugged, leaning back to stand up straight again, reaching out to run her fingers over the petals of the flowers. “I dunno. I’ve always sucked at this Valentines day thing. I always think of myself as a romantic, until I have to be one.” She flashed another smile, letting her hand linger on the petal before she lowered it again.

     “H-How are you liking Ray Bradbury?”

     Sam wasn't too familiar with the other girl, though Kate seemed      nice enough. She had seen some of the posters around for a      couple religious groups that she knew she was a part of (some of      the defaced posters, too...), but she wasn't sure if she'd fit in with      that group all that well. Still, English was something she could      definitely talk about.

     She also thought the other girl looked like she could use a      distraction, even if Sam wasn't sure she was the one she wanted to      get that from. Still, she'd already spoken up.

     “I've only ever read Something Wicked This Way Comes, but I am      liking The October Country so far...”
