Discerning diners have a grand new option in Baltimore. As of February 4, 2019, THE ALEXANDER BROWN RESTAURANT is open to the public for lunch and dinner at the corner of Baltimore and Calvert streets.
Brought to you by Oxford Commons, a hospitality company based in Tampa, Florida, The Alexander Brown Restaurant provides a welcome new option for upscale dining and exemplary service in downtown Baltimore.

The Scout Guide attended a preview night for friends and family before the Feb. 4th opening of the restaurant. Service was polished and confident from the moment we walked through the iconic doors.
The design, thoughtfully curated and preserved by Oxford Design Studios, amplifies the rich architectural artifacts of one of Baltimore’s oldest banking facilities while giving the restaurant a subtle modern twist.

Details of an opulent era unfold at every turn in this historical building. The above handpainted Gracie wallpaper is a nod to Maryland Hunt country.
Our jaws dropped below the Tiffany dome that soars over the bar and lounge space of this former bank property. Marble columns and walls, window trimmings, and an oversize antique wall clock make it impossible to tell the old from the new in this impeccably designed space.
An original mural of the four Brown brothers reminds patrons about the origins of one of Baltimore’s oldest buildings that survived the infamous Baltimore fire of 1904.

The sleek bar and plush lounge are obvious destinations for a swanky cocktail or post-work rendezvous. Interior dining rooms host tables under deep green walls draped in gallery-style art collections. A large private dining room downstairs provides meeting space with state-of-the-art technology.
Chef Andrew Fontaine, previously of Antrim 1844, delighted us with inventive twists to American favorites.

This is Oxford Commons’ first foray into hospitality outside of Florida. They founded the community-defining Oxford Exchange restaurant and retail store that has reshaped an entire neighborhood and earned a reputation as a gathering place you never want to leave. Oxford Commons is also the umbrella company for The Stovall House, The Library at Johns Hopkins’ All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Oxford Design Studios, and Oxford Creative Studio.
