Restocking - Malcolm & Mitchell
Mitchell was rifling through the wide open cabinets with a pinched face. He had thoughts. And ideas. And a thousand things to put through his self-assured and cocksure students. Some of them knew of his reputation. Some of them dismissed it. He knew the type, the glances shot his way, and the ideas that caused them; they wanted to beat him in his class. So he had to scheme and change things up every semester, every session, every meeting. There was nothing static in his class except him. So here he was, staring at the dwindling stock and stash of groceries and plotting the next reorder. Or rather, editing the one that most of the department had put together. Which frankly, was appalling. “Really...bought in curry powder? Force the brats to make it from scratch I say. Learn their palate better.” He sighed, stepping back and fishing a note pad from his bag and dropping it next to the open bottle of Priorat. He could force them to work with something different and make a coursed selection. Or perhaps the buffet or banquet lessons earlier than he had anticipated. He leaned back against the high counter, pursing his lips and plucking his wine glass from the counter as a sound from behind him made him pause. He turned, raising his glass slowly and letting a slow smile spread across his face. “My my, what a pleasant surprise.”
