The silence was deafening and it makes every little noise seem louder than they really are. His heart beat echoes off the walls, makes it ring in his ears, his vision collecting nothing but darkness. He tries to turn around, feeling weightlessness despite the heaviness somewhere underneath. There were screaming somewhere in the distance, his name echoing somewhere far off and makes his skin crawl in fear when it reaches his ears.
It’s a voice of a child…
…one he’s longed to hear for so long.
Then there was a burst of light, giving his surrounding a sudden surge of life. The screams become louder. Everyone is in chaos, the crowd running and falling. Kyungsoo felt paralyzed, like how he always does in that very moment. His limbs were heavy and immobile. Two figures run to him with stretched arms - his parents - calling his name, probably, but the ringing in his ears blocks their voices. He thinks he hears an oppa somewhere but it’s faint, almost like a whisper. Suddenly there’s a shadow that hovers over them, a black void that seem to pick at his parents and making his mother scream as she lets go of her youngest child, instructing a clear “go run to Kyungsoo and hide,” before the darkness swallowed them whole, leaving nothing but their eyes locked with his.
Kyungsoo feels the earth move before he realizes it, creating a safe place for him to protect himself. He takes a step forward, both arms open to catch his sister, but her little feet weren’t fast enough. The shadows starts to keep up, closing in on her.
He screams.
The feeling of helplessness angers him. He hates how nothing had changed even with the numerous times he’s relived the memory.
Even in his dreams he’s useless.
