It all happened so fast, Troian wouldn't remember most of it later. She was behind the wheel of her car with her volume blared up as high as it could go and her fingers were tapping against her steering wheel. For the first time in days, she felt good. Her head didn't ache anymore, she could breathe through her nose, and that icky, stuffed up feeling had vanished so that she finally was able to be out in public around others and not want to be in her bed. The airport was only a few miles away and then she'd be dropping Phoebe off at wherever she was staying and going to see Keegan and their son.
"That car is going way too fast," she mumbled, squinting at a white vehicle in front of her. She had a green light to go and the car was not...stopping and before she could slam on her brakes, a jolt went through her entire body and everything went black. She came to minutes later with a burning sensation in her arm and the smell of burning rubber invading her nostrils. She groaned. Her car had somehow managed to slide halfway across the street and her car door was dented in, Troian trying unsuccessfully to get it open. She heaved her shoulder against it and was helped by a passerby who had their phone pressed to their ear and who heaved Troian up by her arms to sit her in the back seat. Her whole head was spinning. The flashing blue and red lights of police cars didn't help either.
"We called an ambulance for you, okay?" The stranger squinted at her and Troian reached for her phone, which was underneath her seat and winced as the pain in her arm increased. She glanced down to see a bright red spot spreading across the inside of her elbow - air bag burn, amazing. She knew she wasn't hurt too bad but the shock of the situation hadn't quite sank in yet. "I really don't need an ambulance," she tried to protest. "I can just have someone pick me up-" But the pain in her chest signaled otherwise and she knew she should at least get checked out. She sighed softly and handed over her phone to the paramedic as they attached a blood pressure cuff to her arm. "Can you at least call my emergency contact?"
