place your hand in mine {finn and scarlett}
Finn had been going crazy with nerves the entire day. He had been pacing in his office when he had down time--it didn’t help that he had a light work day. He was squeezing the stress ball in his hand and walking the length of the room so loudly that the psychologist in the office next door poked their head into his office and asked what the hell was going on. Finn didn’t really have a good explanation, so he just mumbled something about restless--luckily, he had a student coming in right then, so he didn’t have to explain things further. Needless to say, he needed seven o’clock to come faster than it was. The hours felt like they were inching by, and he was sure that someone had made his clock move slower than all of the other ones--what else could explain how long the day felt? He kept pacing until the day was over, and when it was, he couldn’t wait to leave. While he usually stuck around for a little while after four o’clock, today, when the students were gone, eh was gone too.
It ended up being a big mistake on his part, seeing as without his work, he didn’t have much to put his mind to. He went to the auto shop and bothered Johann for a while, antsy and excited, before going back home an hour and a half earlier than he probably should have and obsessing over his appearance. Yes, she had already complimented his looks, but he felt the need to impress her. Hopefully, he could impress her. He was starting to get more and more worried that this wasn’t a good first date, that she would be completely underwhelmed by him and his personality and his ability to order pizza properly--wait. Stop psyching yourself out. He adjusted his jacket, a leather one that would also work to break the wind when he was riding his motorbike. He wondered, for about the thirtieth time that night, if the bike was a bad idea, but he figured that it couldn’t hurt. Motorcycles were sexy, right? He was pretty sure they were. Then again, Finn wasn’t quite the best judge of what was sexy or not--he never tried as hard as his brother in that department.
As he was leaving his apartment, he messaged Scarlett, letting her know that he would be coming by there soon. Making sure that his spare helmet was tucked safely into his bike, he put on his own, kickstarting the machinery and hearing it roar to life. The sound soothed him, the smooth purr of a well cared-for motorcycle. He revved his engine once before zooming off, making it to Scarlett’s in a matter of minutes. In those few minutes, however, he managed to nearly psych himself out three times, and almost turn around once. However, in the end, he made it to her place, and he took off his helmet, trying to get rid of the helmet hair, before knocking on her door. Inhale...exhale. You’re going to do fine, Finn. She said yes, didn’t she? He chewed nervously on his lip as he waited for her to come outside--hopefully, he would get this one right.
