I'm obsessed with the fact that anatomically modern homo sapiens have existed for 300,000 years, and behaviorally modern homo sapiens have existed for 80,000-50,000 years but recorded history only goes back 4,600 years.

Theres so much time we know very little about. They walked across the entire world.

I so desperately want to know who they were. I constantly see pieces of them in myself.

plan of tauranga-ika pā, an example of a "gunfighter pā" of the land wars period. tauranga-ika was likely the best designed stand-alone pā, in a concave diamond that meant any attacking force be in enfilade as they approached the palisades
