“Friends to lovers w/moyni.”
Ntdp masterlist
A/N: I took it back to ntdp because it felt more fitting! THIS IS PART ONE THERE IS PART TWO.
Let me know your thoughts if you have any!
Patrick was your friend and it seemed to feel that was all you had between you both. You joked around a lot and your energy matched each other’s, which made it easier for you both to get along so well. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind you both would be good friends, but lately that friendship seemed to be going one way and a crush seemed to be going the other way.
For weeks Patrick had been asking you out, you had thought he had been joking the first couple of times but you saw the look in his eyes the last few that meant he wasn’t kidding. Patrick was one of your closest friends and he was the only persons energy who matched yours. From that moment you met you clicked and Patrick fell in love with you.
You waited for him on the concourse until he was done talking with his friends, he noticed your eager look to go home and he finally parted ways with his friends, “ready?”
“Yes! You played great today.”
“Thank you,” he pushed open the door for you and you both left the rink walking to your car now in silence for a couple of seconds until it was broken off.
“Can I ask why you won’t go out with me? Like is there something about me that just makes you say no?” Patrick asked, your heart skipped a beat feeling your body freeze at the question unsure of even what to say and how to say it nicely.
“Patrick, there is nothing wrong with you! You are cute, funny, nice, and kind.”
“But?” He turned to face you stopping at your car, he knew it was coming, you lead him in with the sentence.
“But I just don’t think you’re serious. I feel like you aren’t relationship material or you’re not ready for it.”
He laughed shaking his head, “you’re right! You’re totally right, I’m not ready for a relationship with someone who I think I could make really happy! You’re so right, y/n!” brushing past you not even saying goodnight or another word. Trevor always told him he seemed like it was a joke that he was asking you out, and Patrick thought you would know he wasn’t joking about it. He really liked you.
“Patrick, wait—“
“No, y/n you think I’m just a joke and whatever comes from me isn’t serious? So why should I wait for you? I really like you and I know I could make you happy because I have and I’ve seen it, but whatever, right? Because I’m just someone for a laugh not someone for love.”
—
Days went by and Patrick wouldn’t even look at you or talk to you. You knew you upset and you tried to fix things, but he ignored you and he had every right to do so. Without your energy and excitement parties seemed to be boring, you missed your friend and he missed you a lot more.
“Trevor,” you caught his attention before he left the rink, you looked over to see Patrick was still talking with a few friends before you looked back at trevor realizing Patrick wasn’t going to come over and walk you out, “can you walk me out?”
“Yeah, of course.” Trevor held open the door for you, as you left you felt a pair of eyes on you both. The walk to your car was silent, you weren’t close with Trevor and you didn’t have much to say, but it was better than having to awkwardly ask Patrick when he was avoiding you.
“Patrick really likes you, you know? And you really hurt his feelings.” Trevor broke the silence, you pointed that you were finally to your car, “I know I did. I feel awful because the guy I really trust and is my friend won’t even talk to me anymore.”
“why won’t you go out with him? Can you tell me? I won’t say a word to him.”
“I just feel like he’s joking around with me and he’s not serious. I love the feelings I get with him but I just feel like he’s not being serious.”
“But he is, he likes you and you won’t even give him a chance.” Trevor started walking away when you couldn’t even process what you were about to say, “I will give him a chance!”
Trevor turned around giving you a look that was as similar as yours. Seeing Patrick not talk to you or even look at you anymore made you realize everything he said seemed to be true, even if right now you didn’t want to admit it.
“but only if he talks to me again.”
