Her voice had been a soft murmur to the worked up girl. The perfect, docile tone to comfort and assuage as her head tilted. Meeting the frightened woman's eyes as she comforted her, listened to the story about the near death experience the stranger had just had. The almost bite. It was convincing, after all it was her job.. and when the young woman left her, she seemed assuaged. At the very least far more calm than she had been moments before when she'd come running into the main room sobbing and struggling to breath. When the girl turned to thank Zoe, she nodded, about to say something, before she felt it.
A pair of eyes on her, a gaze sharp and intense and nothing like the grateful expression of the girl leaving the room. Whatever Zoe had been about to say paused on her lips and she tensed. Her head turned and hazel eyes scanned the room until they found the source of her disquiet. A lanky man, long dark hair and sharp features.. and the way he was looking at her. Something about it caused her hackled to rise, her head to tilt as her expression closed into an emotionless shutter like armor, before she smiled again. The perfect, friendly expression. Whoever he was and whatever it was that made him look at her like that, the last thing she needed was more of that piercing attention.
She'd seen him when he'd entered.. and though something about him had seemed unsettling, Zoe had been far too distracted by the frightened girl to try to work it out, but now with the man standing there, the disquiet had returned in full force, and she lifted her chin slightly and approached. Brows raising, Zoe tipped her chin toward the trader who was now dealing with someone from another camp.
"Did you have other business, sir? Or was there something else you needed?" She asked, her voice deliberately calm, a warm inflection pushed into it.
