O’ Christmas Tree || Braxton
WHO: Brooklyn Evans & Daxton Zizes @daxisnotonfireee WHEN: Saturday, Dec 10, 2016 WHERE: Christmas Tree Lot WHAT: Feeling the Christmas spirit around them, Brook and Dax decide to venture out on their first ever roommates adventure to a Christmas tree lot to help get their shared apartment Christmas-ready.
Daxton: If there was one thing Daxton hated more than his birthday being on Christmas, it was hunting for the perfect Christmas tree. Being as particular as he was arguments arose quite often between him and those who tagged along. But with recent events and the difference in his living space this year compared to the last, he was kind of looking forward to it. Utah was much different in the winter, it would snow and Christmas seemed far more magical than it did here, but nonetheless, as he steps out of the passengers side of the vehicle, he's got a grin plastered on his face. Stretching, he looks toward Brooklyn. "Are we going for Charlie Brown or Times Square?"
Brooklyn: Brooklyn wasn't typically one to go all out for Christmas. Or any holiday, really. But since she decided to go about getting an apartment of her own instead of subjecting herself to the horrors of sharing a dorm room at the campus, she felt as though she had to at least put in some effort. At the very least, she knew she could get some decent pictures out of the whole deal. "Maybe something in the middle? I don't think we could manage to pull off a Buddy the Elf Christmas tree, even if we tried," Brooklyn half-joked as she stepped out of the car as well and heading toward the entrance of the large tent-like structure. Was it really necessary to cover the trees up in LA? It's not as if they were risking exposure to too many elements here. "There are so many kids here...lord have mercy..." she sighed, trying to keep a somewhat positive outlook on the day. She and Daxton didn't really spend a whole lot of time together, so this was something she wanted to take the time to really appreciate.
Daxton: For a moment, his arms extend his torso too much and he winces, pressing his arms back down against his sides. "Isn't it great?!" He chirps, eyes following the busy children who seemed to like playing hide and seek in the mass of trees laying about. "I bet they're experiencing the magic of Christmas like we did when we were younger"the way he speaks is smooth, almost as if his head were in the clouds.
Brooklyn: She couldn’t help but give her roommate a major dosage of side-eye at the comment, but chose not to speak up. To each their own and all of that, she figured. Besides, he was a sweet guy, and Brooklyn just couldn’t find it in herself to be much of an asshole to him, even if she wanted to. “I always remember Christmas as being such a gong show in our house. It was good, though. The only time I didn’t get something I wanted was when I asked for them to get me a motorbike...when I was five.” Leave it to tiny Brooklyn to ask for something you wouldn’t expect to hear from a five-year-old girl. “Are you spending the holidays with your family?”
Daxton: Fixing his glasses on his nose, he gives her a smile. "We haven't really decided yet, my mom wants to come to California but I think going back home would be nice. Either way, to answer your question, yes. We might spend a week for uh.. Sam's family." The last part comes out quietly. "What about you? Anything planned?"
Brooklyn: Brooklyn glances at him out of the corner of her eye, effectively giving him another subtle side-eyeing when the softer, tail-end of his answer included the name of his ex. She was really in no place to say anything, but they shared an apartment and it wasn’t like the walls were made of steel in there. “Well, if she does decide to come out here, she can use my room. Jill really wants us to go home and ‘be a family’ for Christmas,” she said, breathing a huff of a laugh. It always amused her how similar and yet extremely different she and her twin sister were. “Gonna be back before New Year’s though. Cassie is throwing a party and I’m pretty sure I’ll get maimed if I don’t go.”
Daxton: The sun beat down on the boy's face, warming it to a level he appreciated. Daxton, even as a baby, needed be the warmest he could be. He wouldn't stop crying unless he was swaddled or cuddled against the body heat of the person who was taking care of him that week. For a moment he wonders if it was because he shared a womb with Maddox, if the constant closeness before he even took his first real breath was the reason for his need to be warm but he shakes; he was supposed to be happy. "I don't know, I think my mom would stay with Xavier in the house he owns here. I grew up in Logan, in Utah, and our home base was always there for me, but uh, in the summers and on school holidays I would come here" He says softly, looking around with a grin. "It smells like Christmas doesn't it? Makes me want to start baking cookies...or wrapping gifts or something.."
Brooklyn: Brooklyn nodded her head, humming her understanding of the situation Daxton explained to her. She really didn’t know a whole lot about him, other than he mostly kept to himself - and Sam - when in the apartment. It was nice to get the time to learn at least a few new things about him. “Oh, now you’re speaking my language, dude. We should definitely bake some cookies when we’re decorating the tree, later,” she suggested with an eager nod of her head. “Are you any good at wrapping gifts? I usually throw them in bags because I can’t get the paper tight enough to make it look decent...”
