Language | Kairo & Youngjae
@mpyoungjae:
Youngjae looked at the professor. “I mean, maybe?” Youngjae said looking at the God. He was for sure not trying to start a fight, he had only just resumed his studies. He’d taken a lot of time out, failed semesters and had excuse after excuse written out for him to try to explain why he had been incapable of finishing the year and now some teacher was arguing the word Pyrrhic with him. “Do you know a modern word for a victory won at too great a cost to have been worthwhile for the victor?” He asked, pretty sure that there was not one. He should have been trying to keep his head down and yet here he was. “I am not that verbose.” he said with a small smile. He did actually like philosophy - but he could never control his mouth.
Kairo sat himself down in front of the demigod, already lighting the cigarette from between his lips. There was a good hour break between his classes and, rather than being in his office surrounded by half-hearted essays, a nicotine break on the balcony seemed a better idea. He took a long drag before exhaling, turning his face away as the smoke twisted in a snake-like form - Kairo had been advised that mortals (and even demigods) could easily become sick from secondhand smoke.
“I am not a modern man, so I don’t have the answer for that,” he admitted with a shrug of his shoulders, “And when I said that it was an old word, I did not necessarily mean it to be a negative thing. In fact, some of the modern slang people your age use makes me uncomfortable.”
